orthogonality is right - OmieWise makes an outstanding contribution to the site. However, Matt's right as well - simply lamenting the ridiculous state of the site over the course of a few hours is, well, ridiculous. Rather than having bad-post call-outs, just flag and move on. MeTa would have been better served with a more general (less finger-pointing) post about how to increase the quality of posts. A... [more]

Just to clarify - I somewhat agree with the 'soggy' sentiment. I have noticed that I've been able to fly through my Metafilter RSS lately; some of that is a matter of taste, surely, but also I feel there is an issue of quality.

My post above was meant to endorse a thread discussing a solution, which hopefully this can become. It seems I have a problem with tone, too. ;)

I have noticed that lately it seems a lot of FPPs are lacking useful context. Maybe that's what nic's on about.

To explain the FPP I linked - I think it's a terrific link that was posted, but I would like to know more about the music or who created the video. Isn't the effort to bring supporting information to posts what separates mefi from other sites?

So... not newsworthy, I'm guessing?
Probably just some code used in a post that doesn't jibe with the coldfusion-generated xml. (total guess, there)
