I'm beginning to suspect the HP printer drivers I installed last week.

What version of Mac OS X are you running?
10.4.something. The laptop's at home. I'm at the library.

The File menu option went away in 10.4.

Were this simple observation universally applicable, about half of the people living today would be obnoxious and the other half would be pretty nice. There aren't that many obnoxious people. I can think of only two, maybe three, genuine assholes that I know personally.

yeah, it's pretty open. The organization is loose. But that's ok. This can be whatever it ends up as. And I'm not concerned about missing the objectives of the project, as they seem to be so open, but I won't go bothering people if it's not going to be a good time.

Remove Norton. It's a terrible piece of software. Any number of replacements are suitable. AVG is my choice, and that's only if I suspect something, it doesn't run every night or every time I boot up. Virus protection is over-rated if you know what you're doing. HijackThis is a great little app that will also tell you what is set to run when your computer starts up and it gives you the option to remove any or all of those items.

Look for a fat cell phone bill in about six months, if you your SSN was lost. Happened to me about three years ago. File a police report, reference it when the collection agencies call. Won't cost you anything but time and paperwork.

I'm running 512mb of 133mhz SDRAM in a G4 Power Mac (AGP). The sticks came directly from another machine running Linux on a Socket-7 motherboard and an AMD 333mhz processor. No problems.
