Nice. And by the name of your band, I am I guessing that you have a thing for XTC. 'Cuz so do I. :)

Yup, it's easy to get awfully attached to a dog you've bonded with. Sorry for your loss. I'm glad to at least hear that Boris finally made an honest dog of her.
As for the belting out vs. singing into the mic... you're forgetting something. Onstage, it's about projecting. That's a WHOLE different thing than recording. Onstage I am often trying to perform for many people across a big room. If I whisper into a mic onstage it doesn't project out to the audience, not unless... [more]

If I Had You
BTW, I'm officially calling this set of recordings (I'll post more) "The Smoke Alarm Sessions." You may hear a little beep once in a while in the background... that's cuz Barry REALLY needs to change the battery in his apartment's smoke alarm.

Thanks. :)
Audiences rarely catch a lyric flub so I never say "oops" or point it out when I screw up onstage, but during these rehearsals we're just hanging out & having fun so I'm not trying to be perfect. It entertained me when I heard myself sing it.

Glad you liked it. And for future ref, if you look on the bottom right of my webpage you'll see where it says "This music bugs me. Turn it off." Click there. Craziness solved! :)

Don't Go To Strangers (piano/vocal rehearsal)
Awww, thanks! :)
BTW, I'm not even eligible because their current cutoff age is 28. I actually think it would be a far more fascinating show if there was no age limit... I'd LOVE to see who would throw their hat in the ring. There are some senior citizens who can really belt out a tune! (Note: I was not referring to me. I'm not yet a senior citizen.)

Fascination Rap
Actually, I loved it. It was cool & sounded like a fun time! :)
At about that same time, I was at a tiny club in San Diego watching a friend's garage band perform & on a dare I got onstage & sang the lyrics to the theme from Super Chicken to the yacht rock strains of Brandy. It was my first time ever to sing onstage -- I didn't try again until performing jazz 8 years later.
I wish I had a recording of it... (Uhh... kinda.)... [more]

After You Get What You Want, You Don't Want It (piano/vocal)
And a GINORMOUS thank you to TwoWordReview for getting rid of the icky junk that was originally on this recording. YOU ROCK!

Hmmm. Well, if I ever actually got off my ass & quit my day job, who knows. Problem is, I'm awfully fond of food & shelter. I need a rich patron or something! ;)
(Tamir's nominated for a Clayton Hamilton Orchestra recording with Diana Krall & this cd with Roberta Gambarini.)

Love Me or Leave Me (bass/vocal)
Well chocolat, we look nothing alike (I'm a brunette) but I'm going to take that as a compliment 'cuz she's attractive.* So, thanks! ;D
*Musically, on the other hand? All I can say about KC is OUCH. Girl needs to stay away from music. And poetry. And sonnets. And the upright bass...

You've Changed (guitar/vocal)
I would LOVE that! I just don't know how to do it myself. I used my cheapo version of Amadeus to amplify it a bit and then convert it to an mp3... I'm not sure how to do much else, really. Well, other than sing. ;)

Until You Kiss Me
Well, I just recorded myself singing along with this. I think flapjax has kind of a Chris Isaaky quality going on that works a LOT better with the lyrics, though. My initial recordings didn't sound much like someone who would be ready to cash in her ticket to ride on that long black hearse... the story didn't sound true enough when I heard my voice sing it.
Fun to try though. ;)

I agree. It's fun to have actual conversation! ;D
Speaking of which, if anyone you know is interested in having a page on resoldo to feature their music, please just let me know; I can give out invites. I posted resoldo on MefiProjects the other day... it's such a great idea, but so far most of our musician friends have been too lazy to get the ball rolling. We really need to get some word of mouth happening on it. It could be such a fun little project/community!... [more]

Ok, check your e-mail for the invite. Let me know what you think of the site, if you have any questions or anything. We're still working the bugs out & stuff so we're really open to all feedback! You can invite your band member yourself after you get in. And hopefully he'll tell two friends... & so on & so on & so on...

Coffee Time! (a capella)
Thanks. :)
Oh, for those who might care (all 1 or 2 of you...) I forgot to mention that Carmen McRae did a really cool version of this and that's where I first heard it. I sang her updated lyrics because they're a little hipper. Here are the original 1945 lyrics, from back when coffee was a dime.... [more]

Ohhh, and FWIW I made a mistake: Lennie Hayton was the arranger, but the composer & original lyricist were Harry Warren & Arthur Freed. Whuups.
