If you can't say it in words, say it in song
Wendell: May I suggest the pop-music-reference-filled "Life Is a Rock (But the Radio Rolled Me)" from the '70s as a substitute? PLEASE? Any other suggestions?
How about "Life is a Rick (and the Internet Rolled Me)". I hear that one a lot.

Got room on that Zimmer for two?
A Zimmer is also a beautiful, elegant, sporty automobile, with taste, power and no connection whatsoever to cocaine-snuffling 80s stockbroker stereotypes.

Welcome to The Rock
(semi-self link, as I am working on a sorely-needed new website for him) a friend owns the old Warden Johnston, the launch used to ferry passengers to and from the island. It was used in the "Escape from Alcatraz" film, and took many of the resident's kids to school in San Francisco.

Gompa, my x-and-y ass also loves good food- and there are two ways to go about it: your way, and the work-your-ass-off-to-afford-it fancy restaurant way. I'll take the farmer's market every time. The smiles of my guests makes it worth the effort, and the pleasure of creation is its own reward.

Nothing, simply nothing...
Dad and I built three of these when I was thirteen- we sold two to pay for ours. They only cost about $200 each, when made with cheap plywood.
I have also had a great time in these ultralight boats- they only weight about 8 kilos each!

Mounting the Flour
thanks twsf, for saving me from looking that up. Or finding the dampened, runny printout of it that's somewhere in my kitchen. (off to start runny bread...)

Donuts? Go nuts!
Eideteker, thanks for the videos. And by the way, you need an Evo, not an STI. I'd try to convince you with a drive in mine if you were on the other coast.
Why?
Less expensive than the Subie to start with and less expensive to modify. I'm putting out 410hp at the wheels for under $3k. The 4G63 motor is easier to open up than the boxer in the STI. Cams are cheaper. The car is more neutral-handling than the Subaru. The 5-spd transmission is absolutely... [more]

Formula One goes hybrid
But in racing, it's all about max torque at 0.
Could you point out to me that part of the race, other than at the start, where the cars stop? The start is quite important, but it's hardly everything. Perhaps you meant drag racing?

Routemaster makes final journey
I was thrilled at the names: Winston Briscoe driving, Lloyd Licorish conducting. I hope to ride one of them on the "heritage routes" someday.

SeeKay's Mountain Bike Stuff
Some of the guys here in Marin have a hilarious picture: Gary Fisher & buddies-- on cyclocross bikes-- looking enviously at Joe Breeze and Alan Bonds (?) on converted Schwinns at the start of a race- circa '76.

A glimpse through the Wardrobe
At least the BBC made a lion that was unreal enough that it didn't fall into the uncanny valley- it was so obviously unreal that it was perhaps more believable. If one wanted, one could argue that although Aslan was clearly depicted as a lion in the books, he could have been nearly a lion, with a few godlike unreal features. (Just please don't make him radioactive like Santa in Polar Express!)
