I'm reading Chaucer in Middle English. I frequently find constructions like "
Ygeten us thise knedyng tubbes thre". What is the y+verb construction? The translator whose work I'm reading has paid more attention to scansion and feel than accuracy.

I count 7 sex-related questions on askme today. What's up with that? Desirous of titillation, I frequently check the 'sex' tag for askme. For weeks it's been fairly devoid of new questions. Then, bam, today... everybody wants laid. Is it seasonal? Or is it just folks who're triggered to write a sex question by seeing one earlier?

I'm a bright, creative, productive computer programmer close to the beginning of my career. I'm currently employed at a startup I really like, with relatively interesting work, and generally feel positive (or neutral) about going and spending time at the office each day. But, for a myriad of reasons, I despise having a job. I absolutely cannot imagine doing this for the rest of my life. Other than turning to a life of crime, in what ways might I support myself without having a traditional job?

After only a week or so of
job search, I've been offered a software development position at a little startup that does almost
exactly what I want to do. Seriously, I cannot imagine a more ideal group to work for. I'm supposed to contact them next week to discuss terms and salary. However, during the interview, some of the statements seemed to imply that they didn't have the budget to satisfy my requested salary. I really want to work for these folks, but don't want to sell myself short. Can you think of creative suggestions I might make during negotiations to make up the difference?

Several months ago I remember hearing something on boingboing or /. about a mozilla-based media player/library. I remember it having features such as automatic spidering/downloading of mp3-laden webpages, as well as your standard media library stuff. Will you point me toward it?

I carry a rather large assortment of really strange stuff with me on a daily basis. Surprisingly, I actually use most of it. However, I've found that I've pretty much maxed out my current arrangement (cargo pants + a cheap tactical vest). Unfortunately, I've just purchased a wearable keyboard for my PDA. Strongly critical of the dehumanizing effects of religion, Bakunin famously paraphrased Voltaire when he proclaimed, "if God really existed, it would be necessary to abolish him."
If you can't make hide nor hair of the President's words, perhaps Bakunin's rationalism is what you're looking for.
