Dear Hitler...
My Dearest Adolf,
I am at your your service. I understand that you have an interest in UFOs and time travel. Good job with the chemtrails, I must say. Please contact me when you have a chance.

Your friend always,

Jeff Rense

A Lobbyist's Progress
This is incredibly interesting. Oddly enough, I've been thinking about compiling data for an FPP regarding the current state of American Indians. It is not surprising at all that the tribes with gambling rights have been tied up by the republican bureauocracy. I'm thinking that if the republicans are so worried about liberating Iraq, why not start at home and liberate some American Indians? (Just a thought, still working on the facts and logistics.)

Koeselitz, his comment was regarding the fact that you missed the brief line in the article that explained "K-street". That is all.

(K Street, in downtown Washington, is where all the lobbyists have offices, just as securities traders used to be confined to Wall Street and drunks to Skid Row.)

North Korea Has Nukes
Doesn't it make sense that the so-called "axis of evil" countries are going to start blowing hot air? They've already been targeted. Now they (Iran, North Korea) are pissed. I wouldn't expect anything less at this point. I'm curious though as to how the U.S. will handle this little international shit-storm that they deliberately started. BTW it's probably safe to think that any collaboration these "axis of evil" countries have with either China or Russia is nonsense.

Pens! Pens! Pens!
Just when I decided against posting a huge pictorial expose about goat-screwing in the U.K., I return to find MORE F_____G PENS!!! God please, there must be a more dignified way for metafilter to die.

(Seriously, the Pen thing is killing me, could you possibly post such inane crap elsewhere? Really.)

BoltGallery
Stuff like this has been around for years at motorcycle shows and swapmeets but this is the first time the works actually looked cool, as apposed to rusty and crap looking. Cool.

MacabreFilter.
So, are we making fun of greiving people? I don't get it.

iamck; did you find this stuff because you recently lost a loved one?

Ok, wait, this may be kind of funny, but it's the kind of funny that makes me feel like shit. One step up would be bagging on Retards, the disabled and dead people. Oh wait that's what your doing.

Like, hey man -- that Terry Gross chick is a bummer
I can always look back to those early C&C movies to get a good taste and reminder of my So Cal childhood. To me, they are an important thread in our cultural fabric. Knowing that Chong was imprisoned, albeit an almost resort prison, for "kind of" endorsing a product that is "kind of" illegal makes me very sad. BTW one of my favorite scenes, and I've done this myself (but in the garage), was when he fired up his Harley in the living room while jammin to equally loud... [more]

Wasn't there something from Star Trek like a Prime Objective or something? Trekkies help me out with this. I think it might apply here.

See my vest! See my vest!
odinsdream: you are right to doubt, and the real thing is much more deadly. The instruments of terrorists are scientific in theory but crudely put together, just one of the reasons so many innocents are murdered instead of the intended targets.

Kind of lame for these guys to put this "show" together. Just gun freaks getting off on stuff. Soldiers for the Truth. Right.

BTW, I could go into detail about why that vest is idiotic by I won't be the one to give bomb making lessons on the blue.

I liked this post. I also checked out the NY and Egyptian sections. Very interesting and good. I loved some of the reactions that the Egyptians had to an American asking them their feelings regarding current political events.

Medical Bankruptcy
To further stir things up, two years ago, a neighbor of mine brought his new born to the hospital with a bad cough. The kid was pretty sick. My neighbor was a contruction worker and had no insurance. After he had been waiting for two hours an illegal immigrant family arrived with a child who had a similar problem.

The immigrant child was seen immediatley and with no charge for the care. My neigbor was billed and although he doesn't have to pay the enitire amount,... [more]

nakedcodemonkey and flateric: no shit! When I got back from the Gulf war, with a grocery list of problems, they gave me such a run around it drove me nuts. I eventually went to civilian Doctors only to get the reply, "What was the Gulf War?"

So I gave up and now I'm just dealing with it and raising my family. Guess I better check back with the VA.

Eff India, this zoogleplex story is a reminder of how things can become very disjointed and Kafkaesk when not somehow regulated. We NEED healthcare. It's like a monopoly; you are in the desert and need water, I am the only one with water. I can charge you $500.00 (USD) per gallon. Because you NEED IT!!!

Nostradamus vs. Nas
Don't feel hurt about it. I got flak for my first post too, and deservedly so.

There have been many post lately that are hardly "best of the web". But I'm sure the flow will pick up. I usually, unless I've been drinking, lay low and watch the old timers.

Godwinized on the Factor?
This is a perfect example of how the U.S. is effed and will stay that way until something REALLY bad happens.

Getting caught up in and being confused by stupid rhetoric, steals our attention from our common goals, i.e. good foreign and domestic policy.

What nation could ever take us citizens of METAFILTER seriously. We're here, we're there and all over the fucking place. But what do we really want. World Peace, or cheap fuel? Not to... [more]

Coup in Nepal
Those sissies just want to be included in the "Axis of Evil" so they can get some economic boost from the U.S. once they're conquered in the "War Against Terror".

Soon every little piss-ant country will be staging coups and terrorist ops, all the while, falling right into Bush's evil plan.

Alley-oop!
Sorry man, but jeez. How many other places did I see this?

Let me count the ways. METAFILTER, Z-FILTER, FARK, WEIRDLINKS, EBAUMSWORLD. I get shit like this, and every other "funny, amusing, hahhahah goddamn thing", from my boss in every morning e-mail.

Fortunately, for me, HE gets most of his links from the Philippines! (Adds to the curious and/or amazing aspect of his mailings.)

I don't usually see the aforementioned interweb places mentioned here on the blue, but it might be worth the time for some of the newer folks checking them out. (And I forgot to mention Something Awful) The reason being, it might help one to really appreciate what occurs (or used to) here in metafilter land.

Hypothesis as thought-crime
After reading the preceeding comments, I found that I actually had to read the article only to find that this is the same damn, female-male-Harvard President discussion that Casu Marzu has pointed out, is not only a double post but a waste of time.

I'm not saying this to win the heart of my anthropologist/educator girl friend either, but I know so many girls, females, who can kick so much ass in the science/math fields, that I just have to guess that Lawrence Summers... [more]

Judge backs Guantanamo challenge
Clearly the dynamic has changed. That's sucks for alleged terrorists who may have just been at the wrong place at the wrong time.

Aside from some discomfort while travelling (airport security) it hasn't effected my life as a citizen.

However, there was really no reason to change the legal system as it existed. With the exception of the "OJ" case and a handful of other cases, the system works pretty damn well. Especially when... [more]

Drinking Will Crack You Up
I started drinking when I was 11. Drank daily from when I was 13 to .....well now, and I'm 36. Not only that, I have a great family and we're happy and successful. The only problem I see is that, like most males in my family, I will probably kick off when I'm in my 70s. Oh well.

BTW, moonbird, I'll have one of those, please!

USAF playing cat and mouse game over Iran
Was there not a pretty strong secular movement in Iran prior to Bush's Axis of Evil speach? I might be wrong, but it seems as though we just don't care anymore about keeping to the high moral ground. As Bush might say, "We're just gonna kick some ass and teach those heathen bastards a lesson."

It seems though that as the most powerful nation on the planet we could just twist some arms and get whatever we want. If we created strong allegiances with middle... [more]

I've been eyeing the blue for years. And now, am a noob. I understand the need to be heard. There once was a time when the blue could sniff disapprovingly at such entities as "Fark", for example. (Gently elbowing and winking)
