Kind of experimental...starts off very synthy. Not a song exactly but probably enjoyable.
Entry for the Uncool Challenge.
MeFi Challenge 2fer. It's riff based AND uncool. The only reason I decided to finish this song is because I like how the guitar and bass oppose each other during a couple of parts. Kinda emulating Zappa a bit here. Enjoy!
I submitted this to a local radio station Jingle Contest to win a trip to London for some rock show. I didn't win, but my crappy jingle is getting airplay 4 or 5 times a week. Wooo!
A little rough, a little raw. Just a little old-time blues instrumental.
This is a horrible rendition of a horrible song. Does it even make sense?
A reading of a poem accompanied by some acoustic guitar.
Bonus Features: White guy rapping. Cowbell. Hard rocking segment.
of Amy Tan's The Hundred Secret Senses.
This here is for flapjax and everyone else wanting a little more than a 1 min 30 sec vignette outta me! Woo Hoo!
Groovin' version of our previous song.
The Remainders are me (odd man from the original drawing) and anyone who found out late about the challenge. Details...
Just a little thing to keep my Mojo lighted up. (Probably just good enough for sharing.)
I tried really hard to keep my strings section in line, but they're doing whatever they want.
I've signed up to play at the Latino Roots Festival in Barrio Logan later this month. I'm not on one of the big sponsored stages so it's a no pay gig. This particular song is pretty culturally important so I made sure to keep the intro very much in tact. The rest is pretty much just my interpretation of the original song. Enjoy!
micayetoca, this one's for you, man! Does this sound too gringo?
Just having some fun, ENJOY!
VU & Nico Challenge.
Bicycle chase scene in Central Park. Tried to do this like an old time radio gag...
Bluegrass song about what sometimes happens with sons and dads. (In a bluegrass/country world.)
Very short and perhaps sweet. I've been working on this kind of music for a while and this is a good example of where I'm at with it right now. Two Chord Challenge!!! ENJOY!
Something for the Choral challenge, although, it ain't quite choral.
One of my boys destroyed his left arm while skateboarding this past weekend. This ones for you SKATER X! (And yea, we have more jello, don't worry about it.)
Cover of the Velvet Underground tune as requested
...is a part of a little soundtrack I did for my kids. Their mock-trailer is...
Spoken word w/ geetar for this months challenge.
This is supposed to be in Latin: A call to wake the dead.
I don't know what you did for summer vacation, but I went back to 1984 and played walkie talkies with my friend Don! Awesome!
Just kidding, nothing's dead.
While trying to channel Bob Dylan, I just pooped this out. It's fun. Fun and Inspiring... if you can make out the words.
This is some kind of punk, and my girls, (wife and her best friend) did the vocals. This is fun! Enjoy!
A simple mashup of dmd's "this has unbreakable drm" and Athan Al-Fajr's "Call to Prayer".
Well boys and girls, I imagine this is what it would sound like if one was lucky enough to hang out on the front porch with our favorite banjo picking librarian. Yes, that's jessamyn on banjo! (collaboration)
Micayetoca and I in a fun collaboration. Features banjo, vocal percussion and a big bass.
I was fooling around with a dropped "D" and found this little thing there. Ended up writing some kind of lyrics and sang a little bit. Enjoy!
I have the whole ranch crew doing the vocs on this. My kids don't think it's scary enough.
This starts slow, but ends with me sticking a screwdriver in my ear. (ENJOY!)
An OK local radio station is having a contest for "Jingles" about specific characters on their show. "Chris Boyer" races cars, wears Hawaiian print shirts and is Homophobic. This is my submission.
"Daddy, can I have a sammich? Can I have candy/ice cream?" "Can we go see the Simpsons Movie?" No, no, no. Go outside and PLAY! (MI)
This is a collaboration with the great micayetoca and an attempt to recreate what one might hear from the pre-columbian Maya. (snake)
When I saw that the challenge was about "water", I thought about my friend Carl. Spoken word + very mellow bass.
The Great Big Mulp + snsranch + collaboration = Hell Yea!
If I keep this up, I'll go on tour with a Minutemen tribute band. (I need to improvise a wind screen for the mic.) Enjoy! Note: I never did get a new guitar. I had a friend rewire my Mustang. It sounds alright.
Just some bass, korg sample drums, some vocs and a really bad English accent. Enjoy!
This is the first song I've actually written in a very long time. And it's in Spanish.
Everybody who plays guitar has probably done this at one time or another. Here's my version.
A very short tribute to my loverly wife.
Tasha's full name was Natasha Von Baddenof. A rottwieler that I raised from puppyhood til death. I was going to sing on this but it's better without it. Enjoy.
This is my first attempt w/ an all new rig; sound card and software. Lemme know what you think. Critique away! Enjoy!
My first actual song-length song with some fun stuff including a nice Greg Ginn style solo. Sadly my conversion to mp3 might have sucked-let's find out! On Preview--WTF? (It's funny enough to let ride though! Enjoy!)
