Heller v. D.C. Decided
I can't wait to read the opinion to find out what five lawyers say my constitutional rights are! Yay, lunchbreak!
What alternative do you propose? Someone has to make the final call on constitutional questions. If you just don't like these five particular judges, then I get your point, but if you think someone or some entity other than the Supreme Court should decide constitutional questions, then you have some explaining to do.

Uh, what the hell Twitter?
Her argument would be stronger if she posted some of the actual offending statements by the harasser rather than paraphrasing and characterizing them.

From yesterday's NYT: If anyone thinks they’re going to get Fluffy back,” Dr. Lanza said, “they’re gravely mistaken.” A cloned dog is “likely to be a totally unknown dog, just as if you went to the pound and adopted another, unknown animal.”

1024 Cheerleaders
The Internet creaked and groaned as it struggled to accommodate the efforts of 1,024 virtual cheerleaders to create images of thousands, if not millions, of dongs.

A long time on the lam
Guess who else is a married woman, around 50, with two daughters and a son? The governor of Michigan -- who also happens to be in her last term. Commutation, here we come!

I believe it'll be good for her if she undergoes the punishment she escaped.
Seriously? I doubt she's hearing the beating of a heart beneath the floorboards.

Leaving Behind the Ragdoll
Is it possible to experience the uncanny valley with real humans? Because that's sort of how I reacted to the acting in the SW prequels.

I tried to get past my initial revulsion and appreciate whatever edgy humor was intended in this bit.
I failed.

Now where are my black jewelled battle shorts?
A couple of years ago, a colleague was coordinating a high school mock-trial team. All the kids had e-mail access (some through the school) so a lot of the communication was done via e-mail. At some point before a big competition, the colleague sent around a pep-talk e-mail to all the kids, telling them not to worry about the more well-heeled competitors in attendance and that the kids would "knock their cocks off."
Needless to say, she was beyond embarrassed.... [more]

Surely we should trust our high schoolers enough to allow them to use cell phones at appropriate times of the day -- lunch, between periods, free periods -- and we should assume they have good enough judgment to know when a call is important enough to interrupt class for (stepping into the hall to take the call, of course).
You've never met a high school student, have you?

I spent a good part of my early legal career sending and receiving nastygrams. I find this to be a genuine work of art. Kudos to Mr. Denke. Writing that letter required a lot of work, but I think he enjoyed it.

Yes, it's a perfectly fine word in France. In the U.S., it carries a little baggage (unlike, say, the word "baggage").

The end of childhood
You know, there are reasons why grown women may choose to wax or shave. I can't think of any reason that would apply to a 10 or 12 year old girl who wasn't being raised in a turn of the century New Orleans bordello.
Same reason some girls wear bras before they need them -- they want to feel like grown-ups.

That's right, Bush is for the handgun ban.
Not exactly. Paul Clement, the Solicitor General, filed a brief in support of upholding the ban, because he is duty-bound to defend the constitutionality of acts of Congress. This caused a big ruckus among conservatives that resulted in Cheney taking the unusual step of filing a separate brief attacking the constitutionality of the ban. It's fair to assume that Cheney's brief is a better reflection of... [more]

I don't see any mention of Tang in the Daily Mail article. But it's mentioned in the article excerpt quoted in the "via" link. Was it later deleted from the article? The article now states, "The main ingredient of the homemade bombs was said to be hydrogen peroxide, commonly used as hair bleach and easily available on the high street, mixed with other chemicals which the Daily Mail is not naming.
