Please help me to not damage myself...
I get mold on the north side of my vinyl sided house due to it being very close to some trees, and lack of sunlight. All I do is wash it with a soapy stiff brush, and rinse it with a garden hose. I would avoid using a power washer with vinyl siding. If you hit a seam at the wrong angle, you can tear it off the house, or get water inside, which creates aditional problems. Good old fashioned 'Elbow grease" is the best method, IMHO.

To clarify: I do own a commercial power washer, and I have used it on a ladder to take the fuzz off cedar shingles. Besides the 'kick" most of those rentals leak in one form or another. Add the sprayback to that, and it can become treacherous ...especially if you are uncomfortable on a ladder. I still maintain that you use a brush and water, or hire a pro to do it.

Blue Screen Hell: UNMOUNTABLE_BOOT_VOLUME
Thanks kellyblah, but I can't seem to get beyond selecting which start-up mode to use. Once I select a mode. I see a screen full of entries (most of which have partition in the title) before it returns to the bluescreen. Admittedly, I'm not much of a techie, but I have a distraught artist wife who has files scattered all over the place, and i was hoping to be a hero :)

Costs and quality of art reproduction?
My wife has done a number of reproductions over the years. She generally gets 2-8 K depending on the size, medium, etc., but presently she is tied-up with a huge mural for the Maine Dept of Labor. Perhaps an art student, or recent grad, could use some extra cash.

Wrongful Termination question
Was he tested for drugs at the hospital ? I knew a guy in Texas who was fired for drug use (pot) after a minor auto accident that was in no way related to the drug use. He smoked regularly, but not on the job. Because of the accident, the insurance co. asked for a piss test, which he failed.

What gasoline brushcutter should I buy?
That's a huge job, man. You're going to need some serious equipment to do that in a timely manner. I can give you a couple of names & numbers, if you want to drop me an email. One of them is the guy who mows the field at the Taco Party house. He is a great guy, honest to a fault. I'm sure he would give you an estimate. I'd be glad to come take a look at it myself... to see what you are up against.

How to keep inheritance fair?
Am I missing something ? What if they sold the place to a stranger? They are buying a new place....THAT is the inheritance. Your brother gets a deal, and maybe in the will, you will get a bigger portion on the Florida house.

Is my neighbor's second bathroom going to make my building crumble?
Where do you live ? There must be some sort of Plumbing Code. Beng a Co-op shouldn't matter, codes are usually City/ County/State. That being said, the plumbing would have to be tied-in to existing plumbing, which isn't usually a big deal. They need to insure that the walls will support whatever they put in place.

Should I get a real estate broker license?
Basically, it's financial advantage, as you are eliminating the middle man. That has to be balanced against the time and cost of doing your own marketing, showing, and paperwork. I'm not sure what state you live in, but you should get in touch with the state Real Estate Commission for details. Some states require that you work as a sales agent, then as an associate broker, for a length of time before you can operate as a broker.

Pimp my w/c!
Outside the box, huh? Well, when we wanted a built-in bookcase in our tiny study, I took the sheetrock off the wall, placed some paneling between the studs, and attached the shelves. we were lucky that the studs were 6 inches, so 8in shevles only stuck out 2 inches. Your wall might only has 2x4 walls, but it still can be done on a smaller scale. It can be reversed fairly easily too, a 4x8 sheet of sheetrock is less than $20. Some tape, a little mud, some paint, and a weekend will make it... [more]

Are all over the range microwaves built to the same size?
I'd call a SEARS catalog store and see if they have one in stock. Then stop by and tell the salesman you want to make sure it will fit...they might even let you peek inside the manual. If it works, then it's one-stop shopping.

Wireless invisible dog fencing
I second what ROU_Xenophobe said.
They can work, but not with all dogs., and dogs willing to take the zap to chase something, are not always willing to take it when returning home. I had a neighbor who lost a dog to an akita, who just came into their yard and stalked it.

How do I sell mature green Japanese maples?
I'd try calling a landscaper, they might know someone who is looking for some. Depending on the size, it might be expensive to remove them, and they might have an idea of the cost and possible value.

Golf at Kadena?
That's a complicated set of rules they have there. When I was in the service, most courses allowed civilian play, but in this day and age YMMV. It looks like you might need an invite, but I would contact them and ask what the rules are.
Why not try to e mail the Pro Shop for policy clarification ?

Pssst.... wanna Sony HDTV for $48 ?
I think mr _roberto nailed it. I just called my SIL ( I'm the BIL btw..The website in my profile is my wife's), and she told me she was steered towards this choice by comments like " This is what most people select". I should have taken a bigger role in this thing, but I was 2000 miles away. It sucks, but it is what it is. Piss poor way to do business IMHO.

Well mr_roboto ( sorry I spelled it wrong before) , Maybe Nancy has it wrong...there were four sisters and one brother there, distraught over their mother's death, and doing the best they could. I'm not sure how much profit they would make over an upsell, but there certainly is not much incentive to use care with a policy like that. It shouldn't even be an option...$.60 per lb?...ridiculous !!

I admit I'm stuck...I've accepted that my SIL went the cheap route to save me money. I didn't even want the thing anyway, I was going to donate it to a local charity. I still think that for a move that cost me 12K ( I didn't set it up, but I paid), I expect some competence. When the driver arrived, the first thing he says is " The guy in PA. dropped this tv off the loading dock." I fully understand that accidents happen, but dropping stuff should fall under another category. I should... [more]

Recommendations for house inspection companies
We had an engineering firm do ours ( Maine). It was more expensive than a run of the mill inspector ( I think it was $800 vs. $350), but paid for itself many times over. I second the "don't ask the realtor" theme. You want that person to report to you, and only you. I was even able to accompany the inspector when he was at the property, and quizzed him the whole time I was there. YMMV.

Just to elaborate a bit on my experience using an engineer: We made an offer on a 150 year old farmhouse pending inspection. The engineer found a problem with the foundation that probably would have slipped by someone less trained. I asked him what needed to be done, got an estimate, and reduced my offer by that estimate plus 20%. I saved 29.2K with an $800 investment.
