Name the lovely Obama Serif!
Wonderful! Clearly, Sender did some heavy tweaking to the logotype (such as straightening the verticals on the M), but it's at heart the same typeface, or certainly close enough. Here's why I wanted it:
That One/Joe '08.
A complete waste, in retrospect, but hopefully people will get to watch the video (which is splendid), and broaden their knowledge. Thanks!

Water in new teakettle smells.
My father emailed Copco, and they already sent out a replacement kettle- they don't make this particular model anymore (maybe because it smells bad). They were very quick to respond and to replace it, so kudos to them. We'll be giving them another chance, and then looking elsewhere.

To jump, or not to jump?
If you have no problem with the possibility of moving again if things go sour, then I'd say absolutely go for it. However, it's a big move and "the internet told me to" shouldn't be your primary deciding factor. So talk to him or his ex about it.

Can an Apple-geared print server be set up and used in a Windows-only world?
I think I'm going to make the case to buy a little wireless print server. Replacing the printers would be next to impossible, as I'd have to justify getting a printer different from every other one in the district.
I marked your answer, Blazecock, because I figured someone will find the software hacks useful.
Thanks!

Throat and ears hurt, but I'm not otherwise sick. ?
As someone for whom Eustachian tube problems are the rule, I'd say upper sinus problems. Sinus pressure can pinch those suckers like a garden hose. Someone with a medical degree would be more inclined to make that call, though.

Hack my Cell
Sony Ericsson phones have a charming feature. They determine text message capacity by the number of messages, not by the space they occupy. Reach the limit- you're hosed. It's bullshit. Short of major modification, I believe you're out of luck. I'll mail a fancy $5 bill to anyone who figures it out though.

Thanks for the responses of all colors, everyone. I rarely hound her about the stuff, but seeing a recent smattering of crime reports around campus brought me to bring it up with her. I probably AM being a bit overbearing about it, though.
She's at the University of Delaware, by the way. They make RAD (Rape Aggression Defense) classes available, and offer Public Safety escorts for both on-and-off campus locations. It's not a lack of options, it's that she won't use them.... [more]

How can I feel more gregarious?
I find that, introvert or extrovert, the best way to really get someone to open up socially is to give them as much sincerity as possible. Don't just say, "how are ya", ask "How are you today?", and listen. Expose yourself to someone else's experience of this world, and use it for a selfish reason if you need to- your own knowledge. Really understanding others' perception of the events in their lives and the world at large is crucial in building a sense of fellowship.... [more]

Does bamboo burn?
Steven,
I believe he's referring to bamboo as an easily renewable wood supply because, were he to plant some, it would spread rapidly and aggressively. Bamboo can cover a lot of ground fairly quickly. I'd say not to do it because it's an invasive species, and if not managed properly, it can really overwhelm property- and not just your own.

I have some savings and would like to become a programmer. Is it still possible to do this if you're entirely self-taught?
Since nobody has yet mentioned this, If you want to learn a language, look at already written code. Pick up some simple open source programs or games, and change them, slightly at first, maybe putting as much as a "hello world" message in. As you think of things you'll want to do, you can look around at the functions already written, and pick up conventions, style, and syntax. Nothing gives me a better understanding of a new language than a book on the syntax, and a few example... [more]

How much should I charge to design a Web site?
It pays to be consistent. While the "how much is it worth to you" line is nice, but some people think anyone who can afford Frontpage is a web designer. Even if you haven't truly freelanced before, come up with a rate and tell them "my rate is x". It lends a professional credence to you, and the quality of your work. If you are doing this to get established as a freelance designer, consider keeping your rate on the low end, and focus on quality portfolio-level work. I started... [more]

Intermittent Laptop Power Prob
FWIW, I had this same problem (3 times none the less), and since the laptop was under warranty, it fell under Dell's lemon replacement, and my 5150 was replaced with a 9400, free of charge. I simply insisted to Dell that if the same thing keeps happening, then the product itself is defective. Bam. Brand new laptop.

What's cool to do in a house wired with RG-6 and Cat6?
My friends' house has a touch-screen jukebox in the living room that pulls from all the housemates' music shares. It's great at parties. It uses the software MediaMonkey, which is free. In addition, you can pass VGA signal over Cat6, with some creative wiring.

Flashing Battery Light
I write this from my new Inspiron 9400. The 5150 is a defective model. Many people I know have had countless problems, particularly with the power supply and battery. Dell admitted this the minute they started replacing them when people complained. Typically, they wait until you've had 2 or more failures of the same part or area. Do you have a Dell support plan? If so, have them fix it, and the next time it goes, have them replace the computer.

CSS Filter: Skew-whiff border/Strange misalignment in Internet Explorer.
You have some capitalized <p> tags in there. I'm pretty sure some DTD's don't like that. Additionally, your footer is out of alignment slightly even in firefox. I just tend to avoid the padding style like the devil, because it does two entirely different things in explorer and firefox. To be honest, I think explorer does it right (aka not resizing the element, resizing its contents), but hey, who am I?

where each word is a tag (and multiple tags can be assigned to a piece of mail)
you could just search for "Work" and the results would be indistinguishable from a search of work/*

All ie w/java and firefox on pc seem to be okay. I cobbled together an example. If you look at the source, you can see the urls i called. I you were to doan upload option, you could call those urls as php files that fed you the images(a la "www.smoo.com/getsideimage.php?s=2", assuming you stored the user's uploaded images in a unique directory or database or some sort of data storage jiggery pokery.)

Westion: No problem, I love a challenge :)
1)I'm presumably working on it. It was a situation where for each cube face, you need to create a beginShape() endShape() pair. I also found that some of the transparent pngs can cause problems. If you stick with jpg files, or avoiding semitransparent pngs, you should be alright.
2) To get information from a session, I would call a php script in the loadImage() url that pulls session image data in.
