KevinSmithFilter: I remember Kevin Smith releasing, in illustrated comic book form, a recounting of how he met, dated, and married his wife. I've heard the story through
An Evening with Kevin Smith and remember seeing this comic book. It may have been released by a third party, and not Smith. One way or the other, I can't find that through my Google-fu. (I know, it sounds strange, but it really was rather sweet.) Can anyone assist me in locating it?

Food for thought regarding Ask MeFi: Answer the question or answer the underlying circumstances? Posit that the questioner didn't specifically ask that responses exclude a particular discussion, but, for example,
this. A lot of people are saying "forget the computer, it should be disciplinary." Not directly responsive to the question, but responsive to the situation. Good? Bad? Thoughts?

I would like to build and host a del.icio.us clone on my Mac (Intel iMac running Tiger). It need not be accessible outside of my machine, although if you can advise me how to do that while still keeping my machine secure, that would be a very nice plus. I am able to build simple command-line apps in Unix and puzzle some stuff out, but I am very much not a l33t hax00r. Can anyone walk me through the process very simple step by very simple step?

Neil Gaiman gets cease-and-desisted. In a rather bizarre legal turn of events, Neil Gaiman
posted in his journal today that he received a
cease-and-
desist letter from Mark I. Reichenthal of
Branfman & Associates insisting that he remove an "
unauthorized"
link from
tomatoesareevil.com to the official movie website for "
Attack of the Killer Tomatoes". (Interestingly enough, Reichenthal evidently
has previously been deployed to defend the "... For Dummies" trademark.) Problem is that Neil doesn't own the site; they merely posted a
photograph of him with a particularly evil-looking tomato, a tomato which Gaiman is turning into salsa in the hopes of becoming "the Paul Newman of
satanic salsas." Neil's reaction: "What an astonishingly small amount of research they must do before firing off these bizarre letters."

Jezztek:
"I can seem to find a thread I was interested in re-reading using the search function, perhaps someone else has the link handy. I remember it was a story of prisoner abuse that came to light not too long ago, and one of the key features that suck in my mind was some mention of a chef, or cook that was permitted to beat a prisoner to let off some steam. I'd like to reread the details of the incident, if anyone could help."

HtAccessFilter: I’m seeking regular expressions to describe URLs that encompass search engines’ image and video search engines, but not the engines themselves, so that I can block said image and video search engines using “SetEnvIfNoCase Referer” in .htaccess. Also, I’m also seeking to block all incoming requests for one particular URL which is popular with these video and image search engines but which no longer exists – but I don’t want to serve them the normal 404.

Don't know if this is the right thread for this or not, but I'm curious as to people's thoughts. (If this is something I should, ironically enough,
save for my Ask MeFi question, I can do that.)
What kind of questions do you think Ask MetaFilter is best at? It "queries the hive mind," as its motto puts it, but obviously it occasionally fails. Yet sometimes it spectacularly succeeds.
My own thoughts are that it's good at harvesting a bunch of different personal experiences with anything (consumer products, life strategies, weight loss things), and it's good at some aspects of general and specialized knowledge (whether it be factual or pop culture), because you're tapping the knowledge of all of MeFi's varied readers and respondents. But occasionally it seems to yield no results whatsoever, or not turn up an answer at all, and I'm curious if there's a pattern in those 'failures', so to speak.
So, what kind of knowledge and qeustions do you think AskMeFi is well-suited for finding? And, also, what kind of knowledge and questions do you think AskMeFi does
not do so well at finding?

On Thursday night, my stove's glass door exploded for no discernable reason whatsoever. Since MeFi's population encompass many trades, I'm hoping there's someone with a background in physics, engineering, or an appropriate tradesman who either knows or can venture a fairly educated guess as to why it happened.

I recently purchased a new Palm T|X with WiFi & Bluetooth. It's been a long time since I had a Palm, and it was the old Palm Vx running Palm OS 3.x. Obviously, they've come a good ways.
I'd appreciate any recommendations as to cool Palm apps. I really don't need to be uber-heavy on the games (although I do like nostalgia games, i.e., stuff from the '80s and Doom), and would appreciate more how-did-I-ever-live-without-this kind of convenience/useful apps. I'm aware of Pocket Quicken, SiEd, and MealTip. And, for what it's worth, I'm on a Mac.

SafariFilter or AppleScriptFilter: I very often collect bookmarks of pages I'd like to look at in Safari, through the double magic of NetNewsWire and Saft. The problem is that I end up having one folder with 180+ bookmarks in it. I often then manually split them into chunks of 20 using cut and paste, but it strikes me that there's got to be an easier way to do that automatically via AppleScript. However, my
google-fu fails me in that respect.
Anyone know of a link to an AppleScript that takes one bookmark folder and splits it into folders with
x number of bookmarks each in them? Or any AppleScript master and MeFi resident out here savvy enough to whip one up for me?
I'll send you a cute picture of my cat sunning himself in a sunbeam, if you want. :)

There is a Yahoo! commercial currently airing in which we see a woman going through her closet to the tune of Eric Clapton's "Wonderful Tonight"; we then notice that the lyric "wondering what clothes to wear" is repeating. The wife comes in, where the husband is causing the lyric to repeat on his laptop. "Honey?" "Yeah?" "Knock it off." "Yeah." I crack up every time I see this commercial -- can anyone tell me where I can get a copy of this, preferably not streaming or Windows Media?
