How do I make pretty URLs work in BBpress?

How on earth do I get pretty URLs to work in BBpress, when in a subdirectory of a Wordpress install?

One-off CSS/PHP job: Wordpress and phpbb3 customization

I'm using wordpress as a CMS of sorts, powering a growing site (with commenting features disabled.) It has a custom theme. I would like to add a discussion section, using phpbb3. I need someone to make my phpbb3 install look like the wordpress side of the site, and use an integrated (or at least the appearance of integration) header/footer. I'm a bit out of my depth and I'd like to hire out to do this. Please contact me with even a rough idea of how much you would charge for this project. I'm happy to share more details and specs if needed, either by Mefimail or at fraser.birt@gmail.com. I can also show you my site, phpbb install, and a working demonstration of what I'm after on another site.

Met on the Tube Met on the Tube is a missed connections site for people who ride London's transport system. Meet that cute guy or girl who you chatted with in the ride to work, (or find out who was gazing longingly at you while you dozed off on the ride home). You caught your train but you missed your connection! This is an excuse to combine my transit-nerdishness with people watching. Still a bit rough around some edges, but seems to be in use!

Is one hour enough to make connectons at O'Hare and LAX?

Flying from Toronto to Melbourne, via Chicago and LAX. The "via" is worryingly short!

Where can I find a simple sterling cuff bracelet in Toronto?

Where on earth (well, specifically Toronto), can I buy a simple sterling silver cuff bracelet? What I thought would be a simple search has become almost comically fruitless.

Mefi has to have more than a few renovation geeks!...

RateMyRenovation Mefi has to have more than a few renovation geeks! RateMyRenovation lets you rate photos of recent kitchen or bathroom renovations. You can rate renovations even if you aren't a member, and you don't have to submit a photo to join. Rate others and get inspiration for your own renovation, or see what others think of your taste in kitchen and bathroom design. Help me fill this thing with content! (So, it's kind of a silly dated idea that looks like crap in IE6, but it's fun. I hope.)

Solutions for building a photo rating website?

Does anybody have any experience with "rate my _blank_" type photo rating software? Specifically, I'm looking at MiPhoto or an open-source alternative with a similar set of features. Suggestions from the hive mind?

Expat Power?

It can be tough to be a Canadian expat in the US. All those silly little misconceptions about igloos, dogsleds and hockey to combat. Oh, and some stuff from American pundits that makes us feel bad. But don't feel too blue. The Canadian Embassy in Washington has you covered. Are you doing your expat duty?

ThingsAreGood.com Good news is hard to find. Sometimes the world seems full of nothing but disasters, war and criminals. The news media makes money by reporting on explosions, death and things that scare us. Despite it all, good things are happening all around us. From environmental progress to interesting art, there is good news out there. Combing the media for stories on positive change, ThingsAreGood.com is a refreshing celebration of all that’s good in the news.

Canada's 39'th General Election - a case for Proportional Representaion?

Canada is about to head into its 39’th general election. Current Poles have the Bloc Quebecois at 8-12% of the national vote. Because it is concentrated in Quebec, this translates to 53 seats. The NDP, on the other hand, with 17-21% national support, is projected at only 23 seats as its support is spread across the entire country. With the main race between the Conservative and Liberal Parties, we’ve heard little about proportional representation. Even the NDP, which stands to gain most from throwing out the current plurality First Past the Post system, has been oddly silent about this plank in its platform. The question is, why?

How long do the rails in a subway last?

TrainFilter: How long do subway rails last? Given the heavy pounding and near constant use that subway rails undergo, how long do they last? Are they simply replaced when I'm not looking?

Which neighbourhood in Toronto is best for two young people just starting out?

Moving to Toronto-filter. I'm trying to decide between Midtown, Yonge and Eglinton, Yonge and St. Clair; or something more in the West end, like Queen and Dufferin, King and Dufferin, etc. If any Mefites live in the area, what are your experiences? How livable is the West end, really?
