Using the stumped tag in askme
I've started a guerrilla marketing campaign in boston for you by placing little LED tree stumps under bridges. I'd say give it 4-5 hours before tagging commences.

Mayday update
Oops, I'm hungover and completely misunderstood what you are asking.
Boozing on a Sunday night? That's aggressive, but okay. 60 Minutes would probably make more sense with a buzz.

Everyone Knows Something
From their conclusions: By democratizing knowledge sharing, YA has accomplished a large feat - everyone knows something, and through our analysis, we know that many know even several things and can share them on YA.
Humans know things, sometimes several things. Fascinating.

Lets not derail obit threads
I think the sad part is that Bill Hicks understood the forces against him and still could not get by without utilizing the services which he talked shit about. This is the root of the problem, and it is far broader than just advertising. It is nearly impossible not to be a hypocrite these days. Id give examples but people don't like being called out, and quite frankly I don't like calling myself out.

Dude! Mister_A: when the FUCK did I say that I hate life? Don't you dare throw blanket statements at me. I'm not fucking lazy, I am not ugly, and I am not hurtful.
There is validity in what I said regardless of whether or not it made you shit your pants.
These tactics of yours are exactly lazy, ugly, and hurtful. Go away.

Nice use of a comma, there. But seriously why are you so condescending?
Look, the problem is that there is hardly a choice anymore in many aspects of life. If I want to go to school, I have no choice but to put myself into mind boggling debt. If I want to participate in modern culture, I have no choice but to subject myself to ridiculous advertisements. These ads also slap labels on different segments of society, labels that are hard to shake off.... [more]

This has gotten very lame, on both our parts.... but you don't think you were a little disrespectful? I'm not going to cut and paste, nobody is going to win this internet argument we've drummed up. You did take what I said and ran it in a direction I had not intended... when I clarified you concentrated not on the substance of what I said but insisted I point out where you acted like a little shit.... I'm not patient enough to coax you out of your stupid suit, good day.

I would love to see an interactive netvibes.com...
Sure, this is what netvibes calls their ecosystem in which developers can create modules for their start pages. Here is an example of an extension that shows IMDB quotes. The modules can be dynamic which is very cool. I'm not sure exactly what I would want to see in the module, maybe the ability to post links? Maybe to be able to listen to your playlist from music.metafilter?

so it seems like it has to happen at their end Actually I think they create modules as well but this page is specifically there to show developers how to create their own modules which can be as useful and dynamic as any other module (like diggs).

Why should metafilter buy into some dumb corporate system?
You are so anti-establishment!! totally rad.!1!! Lets not throw the baby out with the bathwater. Its not buying in, its just another way to present metafilter. Remember its only a suggestion, no need to be snippy.
