Is there a program that will help to convert a batch (10 to 100) of WordPerfect files into TXT or RTF or DOC format so that they can then be archived into a text management program?

The Rowan Williams fiasco brought to mind a book that I read within the last year, but I cannot retrieve it now. In it, a Republican presidential candidate surprises everyone by calling for the adoption of sharia law in the United States. Can anyone help to identify it?

This is a link to a very widely read legal weblog. I have not been able to get access to it for a week. Is it down everywhere or just in my area?

How do I create an ordinary "post to del.icio.us" link?
The Del folks provide very informative instructions on creating a button using extensions, and on creating a bookmarklet or link using javascript. But for those for whom neither option works, how do you simply create an ordinary link that can be added to the Favorites list?

Mencken filter. I recall seeing this piece, but I cannot find it now. Mencken asserted that the Renaissance was the direct result of the pandemic Black Death of the mid-1300s, arguing that the reduction in European population by 1/3 opened the door to a more widespread sharing of wealth and resources. Can anyone point me to the right location?

What is this three-walled structure seen at the edge of an airport taxiway? I have seen these at more than one airport. They do not have any building attached. The configuration would suggest sound shielding, but I cannot figure out the purpose.
See this
satellite view (thanks to Google Maps) of the one I see most often, just south of the A concourse at Mitchell Field in Milwaukee.
