Who's doing Fear and Loathing 2008 (and doing it well)?

So Hunter S Thompson's dead and I don't really know which writers to turn to, as the American election year gets underway, who can bring the mad skills, the savage wit, and the dedication to cutting through the usual bullshit. Wanna-be gonzo schtick I'm not so excited by; clear, fearless, honest voices for the win! Drug references optional.

Native Born requirement for Canada PM?

In America, you have to be born there to be President. Is there a similar law in Canada? Do you have to be Canadian-born to ever be Prime Minister, or just a citizen?

Help me get past L1 support at Paypal. Please?

Can anyone help me with escalating past first-level support on Paypal? It's an old old story with Paypal, apparently, but I'm almost at the end of my rope.

HDD 0 Password comes outta nowhere!

Hard drive password: the Samsung laptop my wife uses suddenly started asking for HDD 0 password on bootup. Checking in the bios confirms that a password has been set on the HDD. She swears she didn't do it, and has no idea what happened. What to do?

Plato denied Greek inventiveness?

During a recorded history lecture I was listening to recently, the professor mentioned in passing that Plato had said something to the effect that 'the Greeks never invented anything (but perfected what they borrowed)'. Can anyone point me to or quote the actual text in question, if it exists?

Eclipses blow my mind

Are there any reasonable scientific explanations for the fact that the width of the moon as viewed from the surface of the Earth is precisely the right width to match the apparent width of the sun, and give us total eclipses? It does seem spectacularly unlikely that it turned out that way by mere chance.

One of my favorite movies of all time is It's A Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World, at least when I'm in a certain mood. I'm also inordinately fond of The Party. Given those, what other movies from that era might I enjoy?

A new Korean War

The American administration is ratcheting up the rhetoric again about North Korea. Hostilities may or may not break out, of course, but if they do, what happens to the value of the South Korean currency?

Do you know the name and artist for the song that begins playing 5 minutes and 20 seconds into this This American Life episode (realmedia)? It was also used repeatedly in the Barbet Schroeder movie about Charles Bukowski, Barfly.

In Korea, the thinking seems to be 'the bigger the piece of fruit or vegetable, the better'. In western countries where I've lived, the opposite tended to be the case -- people seem to value the little tender baby ones the most. Is this merely fashion, or is there any nutritional basis to the preference, either way?
