Ask post: Impatient husband
I have a four year old daughter and would recommend he reads and gets a better understanding of what your daughter's behavior is all about. It can be frustrating when you don't understand what's going on in their little minds.

I would also agree with nanojath that there may be more going on based on your reaction to what sounds annoying but ultimately solvable.

Ask post: Help me learn to make friends when I don't feel like I deserve any.
My advice, and I know it's not great but it's my opinion, is to just start observing social niceties. Manners exist for a reason, and one of those reasons is so that everyone can feel like they're on equal grand. As long as you realize that anytime you see someone you know, there is a context, you will be fine. The context is just that you know then and the polite thing to do is to say hi. If they don't say hi back, they are the ones with bad manners and you can gossip about them later with your... [more]

Ask post: Life after unwanted celebrity status?
I saw it and people I was with afterwards thought the frat guys came off the worst of everyone, with the possible exception of the rodeo guy, but since he was obviously a crazy old redneck it was much less shocking to hear he hates gays and muslims.

Some of the people I saw the movie with were truly shocked and disgusted by the statements of the frat guys. Having known people like that, I was less surprised.

Ask post: Why are retail prices of electronics cheaper than wholesale prices?
Nintendo probably bought a million of those screens-- call them back and ask what the price would be if you bought a million.

Same with the memory cards. Tell them you are going to be buying upwards of 200k units and find out the price.

Ask post: Be my Q. Help me crash a party like James Bond.
Some questions:

Are you swimming up to the lake, or on a boat?

If it's swimming, you may want to test swimming in a drysuit and wearing a tux before you dive in!

If you're on a boat, your options are a lot easier because you can even be wearing a fake wetsuit made of spandex instead of neoprene so it's easier to peel off, etc.

Missing In Action is basically a revenge movie. Chuck Norris seems to do a lot of them.

Point Blank with Lee Marvin is a classic of the revenge genre

Ask post: Separating the fact from fiction..
1. There are people who would benefit from a "pearl harbor like event". People who want to spend more money on the military, put the US on a war footing, and plunder resources around the globe and become fantastically wealthy.

2. There are terrorists who want to attack the United States.

3. Black hat operations are done by allowing someone else (often your enemy) to do something dirty which ultimately benefits you.... [more]

Ask post: Help Name a Website
This is a tough one. If I were you, I'd find some sort of identity beyond just a silly domain name.

For example, look through books/websites/wikipedia about Myths and Legends. Find a cool old mythical animal like a Baselisk and call the site that. Then you'll also be able to draw (or have the artist draw) a cool logo.

Ask post: Are incest fantasies common? Are they healthy and acceptable?
I don't have much to add, but I will note that I have gotten spams which, by their subject line, seem to be advertising incest-porn.

So, it's definitely out there somewhere. You may want to look at some porno video websites to see how many titles they have, which ought to give you an idea of how common/popular it is.

Ask post: neighbors dealing drugs
I say, shut it down. A commercial growing operation should not be done in a residential apartment building.

Most likely, it is not dangerous in terms of violence and mafia, but you can't be too careful when you're talking about WHERE YOU LIVE.

There are many different people who could've ratted out the operation, from meter readers to postmen, to passersby who sniff the weed.

Of course, anonymity is not assured, so... [more]

Dame wrote what I wanted to write. Usually I find that weirdos claiming weird stuff are actually reacting against something this is also weird, but socially accepted.

In this case it's the totally indiscriminate ADD/ADHD diagnoses that have put an entire generation on drugs.

If I were you I'd offer to pay for the stuff you really want, and give everything else back.

A clean break is the best, and it will cost you less over the long haul (emotionally) then dickering over gifts given. Offer to pay fair market value, but only for the 2-3 things you really want to keep-- let her keep the rest if she paid for it.

I would concur with widdershins--

use "gel caps" which get slimy when they come into contact with water. Then put some water in the mouth first. Put the pill in, swish it around, and swallow the water. The pill will be slimy from the gel and water and should go down quickly. Try not to think about it.

The Cleary is great, it seems to give insight in a way that other translations do not. What also might be helpful is the "selected surrahs" version by Clearly. In my studies, I found this was the most helpful single text, as it picks out some of the most important/interesting/spirtual parts and gives a really great translation. Once armed with that, you can plunge into some of the more difficult translations with a good grasp on the overall 'feeling' of the work.

KK I think a lot of people have tried to do it over the years. It's not that easy, for a lot of reasons.. it's not necessarily telling a single story in order (the Hadith does that, basically, kind of) but people have tried.

Here's the first thing I found doing some googling.

I will third or fourth Burnout 3. A lot of fun, especially in groups.

I also find that games like Halo2 are fun with groups because you can either go hunting each other, or fight as teammates. There is also a karoake game for Xbox that is a blast if that fits your crowd.

Greece

Second what Majick says. Just delete the mt-comments.cgi script. The downside is that the comments will be "broken" but the upside is that you won't and can't get any spam.

If the site is high-traffic, the comment spambots will find your comment script even if you rename it. My experience has been that lower traffic sites can use this technique effectively, though.

Thompson's primary business is in providing business (and other) information, which would lead me to believe that this exchange just provides the information about the exchanges and tracks them as a service, and is not the same as a marketplace. I would imagine that the banks pay a fixed fee to participate in the program, which is outsourced to ensure reliability and 3rd-party honesty.

I have travelled to the Galilee in Israel which the lake/sea where Jesus got the fish. The most common fish there, which everyone eats all the time, is a small one that I believe is a type of sardine, except it's a bit bigger then the type of sardine you would find in a tin. Tasty little suckers, people bread them and fry them up by the hundred and eat them with French Fries.

1. Take all revenue for the past 3 years and get an average number. Multiply that by 5 (10 years is better suited to real estate and other less volatile industries)

2. Take your total user count and multiply by 10-25 cents, depending on the 'quality' of your user base (activity levels, age, income, etc)

Oissubke, the problem is that if you are running a massive site, those log files get very unwieldy. Furthermore they are often inaccurate because of various ISP (AOL especially) IP things. With user-tracking you have a much better idea of who actually visits the site, especially when you need to track repeat visitors.

y6, I would like to look at what you came up with, although it sounds like the parsing problem might be an issue, as the last thing I want to do is slow down the page.

I grew up on an Avocado farm and am still marginally in the business through my family. My main advice is to make sure you get California avocados. If they are Chilean (available mainly East of the Mississippi), even if they are Haas, they will have about 1/3 of the flavor because they have been refrigerated. If they are Mexican you are also OK but us California growers won't be happy :) Look for the CalAvo (grower-owned co-op packing company) sticker on the avo to be sure.... [more]
