Ambrosia Voyeur, just for today, Rock Steady Industries is prepared to offer you a full set of the magic words that Internet Millionaires like Bill Gates, Steve Jobs, and the Google Guys use to build their fortunes. Se if you just type EBAY on the Internet, it does nothing. But if you use our magic words or "tags" you can make it do this: EBAY. Now you can make people go to Ebay and buy your stuff. I made a great Shepherd's Pie a couple of weeks ago. I put barbecue sauce and crumbled bacon in with the ground beef and onions, and shredded some cheddar cheese into the mashed potatoes. Came out really great.
Also, KEY FUCKING LIME, BABY. posted to MetaTalk by Rock Steadyat 6:17 PM on November 22, 2008
The way I explain "Yankeeness" to foreigners:
To a non-American, a "Yankee" is some one from the US.
To an American, a Yankee is someone from the north.
To a northerner, a Yankee is someone from New England.
To a New Englander, a Yankee is someone from New Hampshire.
To someone from New Hampshire, a Yankee is someone who eats pie for breakfast. posted to MetaTalk by Rock Steadyat 7:19 PM on November 23, 2008
I hate to say it, but if I was your friend, I could see myself chucking a random business card tucked into the pages of a book you lent me, unless I had an explicit warning that you were in the middle of the book, and that I shouldn't lose your place. altcountryman makes a good point about non-traditional bookmark etiquette, though, and I could see myself doing that, too.
Perhaps the assholish behavior after being called out on it was defensiveness? Do you know that he... [more] posted to Ask MetaFilter by Rock Steadyat 7:13 PM on November 23, 2008
I am your wife. After Ms. Steady and I were married, we moved so I could go to school and get a specialized degree. For several years our life was limited by my job prospects, and she willingly followed me to a city she really did not want to live in (turned out she was right, but still...). Due to difficulty finding a job in that field, I have been out of the field for some time. If I got a job offer in that field it would be hard to resist accepting it.
My wife used to do this in an internship. First tip: soak the tail in warm water for a few minutes to soften the skin (dry thoroughly before proceeding). Place the tail along the spine of an open book to keep it steady. Also, rest the tattoo machine on the back of your hand while tattooing, otherwise it will vibrate too much. You can even wrap a rubber band around your hand with the machine in it for added stability. Experiment a bit with the amount of ink you need -- too much makes it hard... Mine was the same way, but in a closed office rather than a cube, but that was just his office -- we didn't "go somewhere more private" or anything. It did strike me as a little weird at the time, but not inappropriately so. posted to Ask MetaFilter by Rock Steadyat 7:47 AM on November 20, 2008
There were getting to be so many FJM disciples in those chats trying to JoeBait him it was diminishing the humor of what FJM could do with them. I loved the guy who signed into the chat as "Ken Tremen, Dous, Neb." and asked some question about Jeter's consistency or something. posted to MetaFilter by Rock Steadyat 12:01 PM on November 18, 2008
If you'd consider fiction, Forever is about an 18th Century Irishman who is granted immortality, as long as he stays on the island of Manhattan. Provides a nice vantage point for the history of the city. posted to Ask MetaFilter by Rock Steadyat 6:57 AM on November 18, 2008
I think I've only ever played once or twice, but I'd love to play (maybe as part of a team with a more experienced player, if that is possible?). posted to MetaTalk by Rock Steadyat 7:16 AM on November 17, 2008
The 30 Days of Night series. A bunch of vampires get the idea to head north of the Arctic Circle and terrorize an Alaskan town. Amazing, unique art by Ben Templesmith, who has done some other great stuff, if you like 30 Days -- particularly Wormwood: Gentleman Corpse. posted to Ask MetaFilter by Rock Steadyat 4:51 PM on November 16, 2008
I work at a vet hospital, and the best names I have ever seen are a cat named "Maudster.com" and a dog named "Steely Barbadoodle". I'll take a peek through the file room tomorrow to refresh my memory some more. posted to Ask MetaFilter by Rock Steadyat 9:13 PM on November 11, 2008
Well, there was the whole controversy surrounding the infamous head butt in the World Cup, with lip readers hired to determine just what was said to inflame Zidane so much. posted to Ask MetaFilter by Rock Steadyat 8:40 PM on November 11, 2008
At my supermarket they sell these little pouches of pre-made Naan (a Indian flatbread) that are delicious and the perfect size for an individual pizza. There are like three in a pouch, and while they don't last long once open, they keep reasonably well still sealed. posted to Ask MetaFilter by Rock Steadyat 4:58 AM on November 7, 2008
As a American who is further left than any national politician has ever been (except maybe former Socialist Bernie Sanders), I have also always been proud of America and proud to be an American. Proud of the ideal, proud of the concept, proud of the promise. That hasn't been easy lately, but I have come to accept that you can be proud of your country and ashamed of your government. I am so glad that we will soon have a leader that I can be proud of -- what he is and what he represents. I... [more] posted to MetaFilter by Rock Steadyat 8:16 PM on November 4, 2008
Oh awesome. I kind of collect these, and I am so thrilled to find this site. I have one that I love from home that has a silhouette baby happily sitting inside a closed Rubbermaid tub. Thanks sp160n. posted to MetaFilter by Rock Steadyat 7:46 AM on November 4, 2008
Should he be masturbating a lot in order to clean the pipes out?
That's what my doctor recommended. That and sex, as long as we were using another kind of birth control.
If you've gone through this, how long did it take you to get the "all clear"?
All clear at one month. My doctor also recommends yearly checks to make sure there is no spontaneous reattachment -- very rare, but possible. posted to Ask MetaFilter by Rock Steadyat 2:39 PM on November 1, 2008
