60 Minutes last evening had a devestating report on the biggest college lending company, Sallie May. Seems they make money when loans plus interest returned; if defaulted, the govt pays tab; and additionally they own the collection agencies going after--relentlessly--those in default.
Any suggestions for a superior or decent outfit from which to borrow college money for my son, who goes off to college in the Fall.

Anyone experienced using HighBeam Research? I use the conventional free search engines and do lots of cruising for materials for my blogs, and I know this subscription engine is basically for research people, but will it be a worthwhile addition (for the price) to enhance my searching?

My son is a runner for his high school. He has bad feet but has no problem with custom designed orthotics. He just bought some new Nike Frees, which are designed to resemble running nearly barefoot and which are supposed to strenghten legs and feet and make them "sounder." But if he uses these new shoes without orthotics, and then switches back to orthotics for racing etc, don't the two different methods defeat what is trying to be done?

I have been told recently that a short (say 20 minutes) series of sprints, hard workouts, is more efficient and better all around for fitness than slow long distance walking or running (jogging)...true or not?
