Beardo Halloween: I would kinda like to go as
Gustave Courbet, but fear a) trying to come up with a good costume that reads as Courbet, and b) having to explain who Gustave Courbet is over and over. I do look like him, but what else might there be?

I haven't done this in a while, but:
This post sucks. It should be culled.

iTunes failure. Version 6.0.5. Attempting to open it through terminal gives "terminate called after throwing an instance of 'std::out_of_range'

Anglo-Finnish artist
Sanna Annukka's vibrant, flat design work (especially her
Icons series) got me curious about her, well, iconography.
She mentioned
The Kalevala previously, the Finnish national epic poem (
in Finnish here), a tale of creation and heroism that arguably spurred the Finns to independence from the Russians.
Like so much else epic and awesome, it spawned a '70s prog band, with
three albums.

Saved from a lynching: Enrico Dangino, friend of
Vigilante Journalist photographs a man seized by a mob and about to be set ablaze, then, with the help of his compatriot, frees him.
More photographs and blogging from the ground in Kenya's current political crisis from Vigilante Journalist.

MATSYS
Based on the idea that architecture can be understood as a material body with its own intrinsic and extrinsic forces relating to form, growth, and behavior, the studio investigates methodologies of performative integration through geometric and material differentiation.

Pomme Chan
makes
rococo nouveau illustrations, with a felt-tip/vector art feel. Roughly 60 images to explore through navigation on the left.

Ellen Von Unwerth's Revenge, roughly 60 (out of 190) images from a louche, erotic book (
Salon review), recalling the Golden Age of Hollywood and Betty Page.
Other works from the insanely comprehensive site include:
Omahyra and Boyd, a glammy, androgynous romp through lite-fetish; and
"Erin Fetherworth," a video starring Kristen Dunst.
Be aware that most of her work involves glossy nude photography.

Sofa Portraits.
Colin Pantall takes photographs, primarily of his daughter watching television.
Lush imagery, sidelong comment, surprising intimacy.

Creative Zen Nano 1gb— The damned thing's stopped resuming where I left off. Creative's customer support has been useless.
For troubleshooting recommendations, please keep in mind that I have a Mac, but I use it mostly as a USB drive that can play mp3s.

Last.fm pony please: I'd like to embed the "Recently Listened" (or similar) chart into my profile, much like the flickr photo scroll.
(Alternately, if someone knows how to do that now, I'd appreciate it).

Indiana's Sardina.
The New Pornographers of the '90s, the Sardinas released two fantastic albums full of mixtape fodder. Now everything they've got, including some live gems, is up online.
