Tree-filter: on I-10, between Phoenix and Tuscon (near Eloy), the interstate cuts right through some sort of tree farm / grove. What kind of trees are they?

Why was the AxMe post "If you were going to relocate permanently from the present day to Rome circa 100 BC, and you could bring only one piece of luggage (standard carry-on dimensions) what would you pack?" deleted?

What does "teh" mean? I've seen it on several sites, including the site that must not be named, and it's usually used where "the" would be the more conventional choice. Is it like "intarweb"?

I remember reading either on MeFi or Slashdot about a label that is selling unencumbered mp3s directly to consumers via the intarweb. Does anyone remember reading about this? I've tried searching for it but my google-fu is failing me.

So I'm finally going to do it. I'm finally going to make the
switch. After using PCs for many years I've got my sight set on a shiny new 1.25Ghz 15" PowerBook.
Does anyone have any warnings / suggestions / stories that they'd like to share about their switch?

In Mozilla (I'm using 1.3.1 in Win2K) the MeFi sidebar is opening links into the sidebar rather than into the main content window. It looks like the offending code specifies target="_main" in the base tag rather than target="_content".

Cuba is best known for its
legendary cigars and
bearded dictators, but it's also home to some of the healthiest ecosystems in the Caribbean.
Pygmy owls,
bee hummingbirds, and
solenodons share the islands of Cuba with
tiny tiny tree frogs,
trogons, and
one of the largest groups of snails in the world. There are problems, though. Many species such as the
giant cursorial owl, the
ivory-billed woodpecker and the
smallest of the giant sloths have been wiped out over the last 5,000 years, and
other species are threatened.

So
this thread isn't exactly an advertisement, but it does link to
a site whose actual purpose seems to be to sell some sort of
penis-enlargement-pill.
I'm not saying that the post should get yanked, but I am wondering whether content whose purpose is to advertise a product should really be the subject of a front page post.

Apparently the Web is getting less eclectic.
The basic gist is that the Web, once a vibrant and quirky place, is just becoming a repository of dullness and repetition with such an overabundance of information that people tend to stick to sites that they know and love. What's your take on it?
(Thanks to Zach at Thinky.org for the link.)

Apparently this is just a mockup, and its a little bit unclear what all the little buttons do, but I still want one.
