MeTa post: Yeah, yeah, why do I care?
This is answerable by Amazon. 'What do you like" questions get asked all the time. "What do you think?" isn't any more ChatFilter than those.

The display string gets shortened with "...," the actual URL stays the same. Why not do it?

MeTa post: Yes, I know there just was one...
Already moved in.

How about this coming Saturday, late afternoon/early evening to give people that are going out a chance to stop by? I have no idea what's around, so I can't really recommend a place.

Would a non-weekend time be better for the people that couldn't make Saturday? All of this week & next mon are completely open for me, and evenings/weekends will be free after I start work. Shakespare in the Park sounds cool, I'd be down, but its over a month away. Would people want to do the movie or something else?

Alright, well lets go for the BHH movie this friday (it looks like its Roman Holiday, which has got to be better than Night at the Museum). Doing Shakespeare in the Park would be great in a month, too. What's the best way to actually meet up at a thing like this? Meet up earlier? All wear bright pink with 10ft hats?

What about a system where new questions go into a queue, and one question is showed to a registered user (in a sidebar or something) that that user can 'approve'. After a certain number of approvals, it goes onto the site.

AskMe, to me, is getting too busy. I can't scan the day's questions anymore, easily, or check back in on that thread that caught my eye. This might at least weed out the questions that should be 10, 15 second googles.

MeTa post: Can we please get a cleanup of the OS WARZ!!1!...
ArcGIS flat out will not work on non-Windows systems. ERDAS Imagine flat out will not work on non-Windows systems. Right there you knock out public policy/planning/geostatistics with Arc, and any decent photogrammetry with Imagine.

For many people, Mac might be a better choice. If you don't want to spend an hour or so securing your system (and many don't and can't) you probably should go with a Mac. I don't think anyone's argued that the default Windows install is safer... [more]
