Rokusan: Is there some kind of law protecting the school from prosecution here? Because if not, that seems like a pretty damning quote to me, the juror.
I mean, this is the Land of Litigation, right? If anyone can sue for emotional distress, ever, isn't this a textbook example?

Hogshed, I hear that Mrs Trellis has written in with an offer to make the cucumber sandwiches ;-)
I'm so sorry to hear about his death. He was a wonderful man, has given millions of people across the world many, many hours of entertainment and is irreplaceable.
We're adopting a lovely big hairy rescue old english sheepdog tomorrow, I think we have call him Humph in his honour.

From the first article:
"In Washington, some guy threw a pipe and it hit me right between my eyes," he told Michael Parkinson two years later. "They made me feel about as welcome as a fart in a spacesuit."
I remember that show! One of the other guests was Angie Dickinson, already a little bemused at the language being used by Billy Connolly on national television, she completely fell apart with laughter at... [more]

Great post, thank you! Reminds me in a roundabout way of the days when the British comedian Peter Cook would call in as "Sven" to the Clive Bull show on London's LBC station. I've not listened to the station in a long time but there used to also be an elderly lady late-night caller by the name of "Babs" who I always wondered about.

Good old BBC Four (must be all of three years old now). The best channel on the telly anywhere in my humble opinion.
As far as the Beeb going worldwide I believe there is a concerted effort to make as much content available as possible but to a UK audience only (i.e. a licence fee paying one). Maybe an international licence fee would help?
