Is MetaFilter a community?
You guys are alright. Mostly.

No, it says "Ice core sample containing anomalous microbes, Pabodie expedition - DO NOT DRINK".

I put it in the punch as I thought everybody would want some.

Weirdly its iRL meetings and Twitter that make me think of MeFi as a community almost more than the site itself.

Possibly I just dig my own little community within MeFi.

Metafilter is a war of all against all.

It's about subtext in fancy murder shows.

David's touching of all the things is either due to his ability to see annotations in the ultraviolet or a "fuck it" approach to Asimovs first rule.

Tell me your weirdest, most niche interest!
I am fascinated by determining the precise location of that fictional locations in Seattle-set TVs and movies would occupy. For instance Seattle Grave Hospital appears to be located at the base of the space needle, and depending on which window view you believe Mr Grey's apartment may be hovering somewhere above the sound.

FanFare Clubs and event calendar
If we create a MeFi Horror Film Club club can we get the existing posts retroactively imported?
posted to MetaTalk by Artw at 12:09 PM on May 22, 2015
(I am sort of the person currently holding the stick for MFHC so I guess I should go ahead and do that, unless we want to be democratic or whatevs)
posted to MetaTalk by Artw at 12:10 PM on May 22, 2015
That would be helpful - the sticking point in particular hear is it's a bunch of posts by different users.

OK, I've been bold and added Mefi Horror Club as a club... next step would be to import everything tagged mefiHorrorClub. It also occurs to me that when i set it up would have been a great time to inlcude a link to the guidelines in the description and I neglected to do so - is it editable?

I should probably make an announcement post as well - should that be a general FanfareTalk post or sohould i do it from within the club? If I do it from within the club will it even be visible to others?
posted to MetaTalk by Artw at 3:27 PM on May 22, 2015
Pretty sure horrirclub should all be in mefiHorrorClub too, yup.

So, I'm sort of assuming the movie anouncements would still go out in regular FanfareTalk, even though they'd get the tag, is everybody cool with that?

I'm awaiting the inevitable recaps/live blogs/etc as that one passes from a buy price to a rental price to free.

"Someone has it registered somewhere, I'm pretty sure, oh well. /clicks 'do it later'" - lots of people in lots of offices with Sublime.

If you use it you absolutely should cough up for it, but there's little practical barrier to trying it out, DRM, indefinitely.

Atom and the new multiplatform VS look interesting also.

We're using a tab of two round our way. Mind you were using some languages where whitespace counts*, so it would be awful otherwise.

* I have mixed feeling about this personally, but it's what everyone here is using so.... /shrug.

Yup, you gotta go with the flow. Commercial software engineering: Where You Swallow Your Feelings to Exchange Conflict for a Fine Mist of Dis-Ease.

I'm gonna be passively aggressively harshing at you, anything that hints at Coffescript or Slim in future job listings.

(which, I've discovered, heavy Ruby buy-in may be a sign of, so that's probably out.)

I too would like to see them disabled in titles. They seem out of place there.

On the other hand I have no problem with any amount of ASCII weirdness in titles. I contain multitudes.

Making arguments out of thin air
Feel free to declare victory because I no longer have a desire to engage with this site. Too dishonest, sniper and awful. People disagreeing with you is not "threadshitting" and it is ridiculous that the argument that it is gets given the time of day.

Catch you on the tweets,
