Riding through the city, trying to lose your mind
Kling Klang are an amazing band from Liverpool. All keyboards and a drummer, and as you might have guessed from their name are massive Kraftwerk fans. In fact they are currently in the process of being sued by Kraftwerk (for robbing the name of their studio for their band)

What to see, do, and eat in Liverpool?
At the moment the Biennial is on so there are hundreds of little galleries and spaces all over the place showing weird and wonderful art of all hues. I can recommend going to the Open Eye Gallery and the Bluecoat, both are in the city centre and close to each other.
I had a quick glance at your profile and noticed straight away 2 photos of booze! So if you are that way inclined there are loads of great places to get real ale in Liverpool. This is a map made by Merseyside... [more]

Suitable gift for Irish teacher
I have been on the receiving end of end of year gifts, and I really appreciated everything that I got. I didn't expect to be given anything so the fact that parents/children went out of their way to get something was very touching. The one thing that stood out from the other items was a painting done by one of my students, with obvious help from her parents. So in my experience anything that has a personal touch would be appreciated. Otherwise chocolates, drinks, and gift tokens where all very... [more]

"Eyeball benders" is indeed what I am after. Thanks jozxyqk. Also after "What the hell is this thing?" though.

Where have people seen this before?
Cheers for most of the answers, I was simply curious about the fact that a similar image was out there independent of my friends creation. The images linked are not identical to the one that he has used, but I could see how people might see it as similar.
He used a couple of sources, and didn't just rip off the image wholesale as some people seem to think. Also I am not worried about the copyright issue of other people ripping us off as we have only made 20 odd t-shirts that have all... [more]

Ohhh. Made in Britain! [/moss]
I can't believe that Victoria Wood has not been mentioned, she has sometimes been given flak for being twee and mundane when doing some of her stand-up (it's just the comedy songs that I dislike personally) but her sitcom/sketch show work is marvellous. Check out dinnerladies which is a sitcom set in a works canteen. There are also her shows with Julie Walters from the 80's which feature Acorn Antiques. Not forgetting her series of self contained plays Victoria Wood.
Seconding the... [more]

Help me win a pie making competition.
Thanks for all the ideas, I didn't use any though, but I did manage to come second! With a chilli beef and ale pie. I think I did well due to my puff pastry, so here is the recipe that I used.

Make me want to go to Asia.
Ankgor Watt looks like exactly the type of thing I'm looking at, thanks furtive. I've known about bits and pieces of SE Asia but not really looked in depth at it, these (and hopefully more) ideas are helping.

I've marked a couple of best answers as they have definitely given me a flavour of what people get out of going to SE Asia.
More specific places and reasons would be great though.

How much less black can they be?
Can you not put the design inside a plastic bag sealed with an elastic band and then wash/bleach/colour remove the rest of the t-shirt?
I have done this a long time ago when i wanted to dye a light shirt darker, the design on my shirt had a circle around it with the original colour, but I thought it looked ok.

a vegan's gotta eat in manchester...
There is a Vegan restaurant in Liverpool called The Egg, it's meant to be pretty well respected, but I've only been a couple of times, and I'm not a vegan so I just moaned about the lack of meat.
Oh and well done on flying to watch Everton, they are my team and hopefully we will batter Newcastle on the 30th as well.

Cool Camping Crap
Ha! That hanging chair thing is brilliant, however a little out of my price range, and I don't think that you could hitch it to the back of a tiny British car.
Keep the suggestions coming though.

Thanks for all the great ideas, some are a tad o.t.t. for an English camping trip, but have definitely given me some ideas. And I'll certainly be whipping out my hard salami at some point.
Cheers

I look pretty young, but I'm just back-dated
I've been working as a supply teacher with mainly 4-7 year olds (in the U.K.) for the last few months. Although I'm not too sure of the Grade structure in the U.S. I have found that praising on task, or good behaviour has more of an effect than punishing bad behaviour with this age group. For example if you say "Well done for sitting up beautifully Steven!!" usually the children around Steven, also sit up beautifully.
This also means that you are usually... [more]

I can transform and skew the text box all I want, however I can't get it to follow the outline of the object. If there is no way of doing this thats fine, however if anyone has any other ideas that would be even better.
