MeFi post: Batbush? Bushbat? Bushman?
Be warned, the article is full of spoilers and challenges the consensus on both movies.

I just finished reading your article and just had to say how immensely wrong you are. Every single person I've spoken with about The Dark Knight is still bubbling about how bloody awesome it was, but on the flip side those same people really disliked ALL of the prequels, especially Emo Annie.

Maybe Vader can be "The Dark Noooo".... [more]

MeFi post: A new jug ships clean
So... would have it been utterly (must resist...) impossible to, oh I dunno, make the opening somewhat tapered so the pour was more focused?

I don't drink milk anymore, but let me know when someone fucks up the heavy cream containers. I'll gut someone then.

Fine. You want it that way? Baseball is now Calvinball.

I don't want pro sports, at all. But if there was a Calvinball league...

MeFi post: Goodbye, Netflix Profiles?
This is kind of odd to me. Now that there isn't a decent way to sort out rentals into seperate queues for whatever reason, that means there's going to be a lot more bandwidth spent on organizing a single queue to try and quasi-replicate the same experience as before.

Plus it just will piss off anyone that was using it, but I guess that doesn't have a dollar sign attached to it so there's no way a corporation can possible calculate that I suppose.

MeFi post: Boring men?
How many people have been around men that could not shut the hell up, having this irrational compulsion to share every tiny little thought pinging around in their hollow heads?

It's still boring, an endless stream of inane chatter for no other reason than to drown out the silence. But, I do admit, coming up with interesting ways to shut them up is somewhat entertaining.

Okay, so does this make the Ark of the Covenant and the Holy Grail actually alien artifacts, or do we have a Christian deity and crystal protoss running around on the same planet, both fucking around with humans?

Actually, it was the fridge that bothered me the most.

When I was a kid I played many sports, but frankly baseball was the most boring one. If you're on a team, you're standing around doing nothing for the most part. Basketball and football, you're always doing something, even if you're not directly related to the ball.

I think this has to do more with popularity than anything else.

Meh, this is just a viral advertisement for Bionaire. Wake up, people!

... Is it sad that I'm surprised that they actually offered air filters to people living in that choking dust cloud after Sept. 11th? Maybe I am really jaded and cynical, but I really figured FEMA just shrugged and flipped everyone off near the WTC.

MeFi post: Hate Speech or Free Speech?
And no one's mentioned anything about "Free Speech Zones" yet?

I was under the impression the original intent of Freedom of Speech was to protect a citizen from government persecution when expressing politically unpopular ideas/beliefs/what have you.

Or maybe politicians have a right to be free from hearing things they don't like?

Funny enough, one concert I was at the lead singer encouraged people to use their cellphones like lighters. A bit odd, but since the club I was at didn't allow smoking it seemed appropriate somehow.

Well, when there's a nickle to be saved in materials cost, isn't it the lawful duty of a responsible corporation to do so? I mean, someone has to think of the shareholders, the most downtrodden class of people to ever exist.

MeFi post: 'Roid Writer
Whoa, wait a second. That EW article says the guy was able to bench 405lbs, but had a resting heart rate of 120. Something is extremely wrong there. When I was weightlifting (granted it never was competitive or anything, just to keep in shape really) my heart rate went way down. To the point where a nurse who took my blood pressure did a double take and asked if I was a triathlete.

Maybe it was the 'roids that caused his heart rate to skyrocket?

MeFi post: Who's on first? YOGURT IS!
I was buying soem yogurt (yoghurt, whatever) at the grocery store the other day. It was a greek variety, similar to Fage. The lady bagging my groceries looked at it dumbfounded and asked me what it was. I told it it's greek yogurt, it's much richer and thicker than other yogurts. She made a face at that and said she wouldn't like it then, she likes the yogurts that are more liquidy.

I'm still not sure why she felt the need to comment on my damned yogurt. And greek style... [more]

Well, I have the 50G. At least I got a decent deal on it, and I was using a TI-82 before that. Bleh.

I don't use the RPN mode on it, though. I keep meaning to start using it, but right now I really don't have the luxury of shifting my world view so close to my Calculus final.

I used to drive a stick, and I wish I still did, but the car I recently bought is an automatic. Got a deal on that, too, heh.

Actually this is kind of interesting to me. I mean, if she's getting a nose job, face lift, breast augmentation, isn't this pre-emptively telling her children that the genes she passed down to them just aren't good enough and they should go through the same procedures if they want to be accepted as beautiful?

MeFi post: Infusions of Grandeur
I made an infusion of vodka with some Scandinavian hard pepper licorice.

It was absolutely horrible. I felt like someone Rick Roll'd me into making it and the punchline was that I wanted to sneeze after taking a shot of that.

Only one of my friends would take a shot, and he was gasping for water since it was so salty. No one else would even touch it after that.

I felt like I was reading the label on a Dr. Bronner's magic soap bottle, but instead of quirky and funny it was just weird and sad. Maybe funny but not ha-ha funny?

I think that those "photodiamines" are really unclever Rorschach tests. That's supposed to look like a "slut's low neckline", seriously? I thought I was looking at a really bad picture of a waterfall at first. Maybe it says more about the presenter than anything else.

Yeah... Creative can go to hell. I bought the original SB way back when so I could use the speech pack for Wing Commander. Back then, it was awesome. Amazing how little advancement they've made in the past almost 20 goddamn years. Now about the only time my computer crashes is when the drivers for the craptastic Audigy 2 ZS I have foul up and cause an infinite loop.

The next rig I build will be blessedly free of Creative and their horrible, joy sucking hardware.

MeFi post: Rank Not Lest Ye Be Ranked
One thing that occurs to me is that Vault merely asked these people which law schools produce the better employees. They did not ask them which law school graduates they pursued most vigorously in hiring.

If certain schools produced better employees, would they not be the schools that are recruited the most heavily?

Sorry if that is a stupid question, but I can't read that statement without my head trying to eat itself.

Thank you for the responses, prefpara and goneill. I suppose the high cost of admission to prestigous schools such as Yale has to justify itself somehow.

Of course I say this knowing that I have zero probability of ever attending an Ivy League school, so there's that.

Bananas are full of win. Simply because, if you're male, it's always fun watching people of your sexual preference eat them. Ahem.

Anyway, no nectarines? That is an outrage! When they are ripe and juicey there is nothing more tasty, nor easier to eat.

I'll throw in that if you absolutely must have auto-pay for anything, for the sake of your FICO score, use a credit card. The first time I signed up for a gym I didn't have a CC, so I used my debit card. Once I had a credit card I tried several times to move the monthly charge from one card to the other with no luck. I finally just became disgusted with the gym's service and cancelled my membership.

I just got GH2, and I'm amazed at how badly I'm doing at it. I started at medium but dropped to easy since I was failing songs. I think I'm improving, but we'll see how that goes. I think I might switch to my right hand on the frets and left on the strum bar.

I still want Rock Band for the drums and vocals, though.

Last year I went to the Big Cat Rescue down in Tampa, FL. They have this enormous tiger, Shere Khan, 800 pounds. I got to feed it a steak, and not just like a normal steak, no. More like a huge 5 pound slab of meat. The tiger just swallowed it whole.

For the most part I was in complete awe of that creature but there was a tiny, monkey part of my brain that wanted to run for dear life.
