Deep fryer recipes?

Either because she loves me, or because she wants me to die early, my lovely wife bought me a deep fryer! What are your favorite recipes that end in “…deep fry until golden brown.”? I’m especially looking for recipes for fish and chips and tempura, but anything else will be appreciated.

What the heck kind of plant did my son get into? While on vacation in Quebec, my son started complaining that his hand was hurting. He had brushed it against some sort of plant. Within ten minutes he was screaming in pain.

Who got punk'd?

We've discussed the Ashton Kutcher's voicemail problems, though many Mefites quickly caught on that it was fake. The media, it seems, wasn't so smart. The whole thing, it turns out, was an elaborate stunt created by the same guy who gave us The Credit Card Prank. It was the media and the people leaving the voicemails who ultimately got punk'd, but in the end, Ashton surrendered anyway. It's quite possible that by making this post I'm the most punk'd of all. I no longer know what's real and what's fake.

Keep watching the stars, Quincy

Forensic Astronomy is the practice of using astronomy in legal cases to find the exact lighting conditions existing during a crime. It was used in a case in 1857 by a U.S. President. Lately, forensic astronomers are using their practice to find out all sorts of things. One astronomer has recently figured out just when exactly the Autumn Moon rose over the High Sierra. This Thursday, should you happen to find yourself at Glacier Point, you can see exactly what Ansel saw.

Montessori schools? We're looking into sending our toddler to a Montessori pre-school next year. Anybody have any experience with them? Most of what we've read is pro-Montessori but I'm looking for personal experiences from people who have sent their own kids or who have gone themselves. I realize our pre-school choices probably won't affect him when he's thirty but I would like to start him off on the right foot. [There is nothing more inside but your many helpful comments.]

I want to start making an afternoon cup of tea at work. Other than a water cooler and a bathroom sink there are no kitchen facilities here. I need some sort of small electric kettle, and a pot or a cup to brew the (preferably real, not bag) tea in. Clean up should be easy and everything should be unbreakable. I don't add anything but water. Is there an all-in-one device out there? What's your system? Links to specific products appreciated.
