We've
discussed the
Ashton Kutcher's voicemail problems, though many Mefites quickly caught on that it was fake. The media, it seems,
wasn't so smart. The whole thing, it turns out, was an elaborate stunt created by the same guy who gave us
The Credit Card Prank. It was the
media and the people leaving the voicemails who ultimately got punk'd, but in the end, Ashton
surrendered anyway. It's quite possible that by making this post I'm the most punk'd of all. I no longer know what's real and what's fake.

Photos of tragedy
-
Warning, may be distressing to some.
Tragedies like this always provide for very dramatic photos. What are some of the ones you've seen today that made you gasp?
This one made me think "all these people are now dead."
Any more?

Could you Blog for 24 hours straight?
While some folks are happy spending a day Not Blogging, Cat over at
Frykitty is looking for people to join her in her 24 hour charity Blogathon. Sign up to blog with her or just sponsor someone. While I do think spending 24 hours at a PC is a sure sign of insanity, I can certainly respect that sort of insanity.

I'm posting this link
mainly so I have an excuse to discuss bike commuting. I recently started riding my bike to work. At first, I did it just to get into shape but I'm beginning to enjoy it for a number of other reasons. The sights, sounds, and smells (not always good, but still...) of the daily ride are much more pleasant than the daily stress of driving. Not to mention the whole "1 mile in a car emits 1 pound of noxious fumes" thing.
Do others ride to work? What are your experiences? Any good stories? Bad stories? How often do you get yelled at to "get out of the road?"

Today is the 105th running of the Boston Marathon.
Growing up in Natick, Massachusetts, which is the ten-mile point of the route, the Marathon was always a huge deal. I remember watching every year as the wheelchair racers would zoom by to the roar of the crowd. We'd then wait a few minutes until the State Police motorcycles and the press trucks marked the lead runners. Before long the street was nothing but a solid wall of runners in all shapes, sizes and colors. A favorite thing to do would be to cheer someone on based on the t-shirt they were wearing. One year I saw a man wearing a t-shirt with a picture of the Mandlebrot Set. I yelled "Go fractal man!" He looked at me and smiled, and I knew I gave him a little bit of a boost that day. The race is certainly a yearly tradition around these parts. Does the rest of the world care? Is this big news elsewhere or just a small blurb on Page E-6?

Goodbye, farewell, and chicken butt.
One of the most brilliant comedy sites ever, Computer Stew, is going away. If you've never watched any of these amazingly funny web-shows you have about 24 hours to do so.
I highly recommend you do.

Aloha, Mr. Hand.
Ray Walston is dead. For all you counting by threes, he would be the third, I guess. You can stop counting now.
