Should I talk to my professor about getting an exemption on a test grade before or after final grades come out (and I learn whether it actually matters)?

I'm looking for some clever ideas for treats for my ultimate frisbee "secret buddy." They need to be small (not much larger than a big candy bar) and inexpensive (~$5). I don't really know this person that well, but I would like to be more thoughtful than just slipping her a candy bar with a note saying "good luck!". I think puns are more than called for in this situation, especially if they relate to ultimate or geology.

My brother is turning 10 next week and I'm at a loss for what to get him. He got all the stuff he wanted for Christmas and I want to give him some sort of experience. In the past I took him out to lunch and to the German import store to buy candy and just hung out with him for an afternoon. Problem is, this year I'm off at college in another state. What's something we can do together without actually being together? My budget is about $20.

How can I convince my roommate (college dorm room) in a non-awkward way that we need to lock the door?

Etiquette filter: What's the best way to handle being stopped up in a crowed situation such as on an airplane or in a large lecture hall? Is it more annoying if I sit and sniff, or occasionally blow my nose? Also, to imagine the worst possible scenario, what do I do if I find myself in this situation without enough tissues?

I'm looking for a cartoon I saw once with a bear asking permission to go to the prom. It only had one panel and I'm pretty sure it featured the sentence "I live in a subdivision." Has anyone here seen this cartoon?

I run a personal
MediaWiki that I organize a lot of academic, business, and project related notes in. I also keep a journal, and all entries are in one category. The entries take the (automatic) form of "June 4 2007". So far so good, except when I look at the journal category page, I get an alphabetized listing, which is essentially useless. Finding a particular date isn't hard, but I'd like to see them all (or, you know, paginated to 60 or so) listed in reverse chronological order. How can I do this?

The
FIRST ("For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology") robotics competition has recently begun it's 2007 competition season. The competition, which began and still enjoys it's greatest popularity in the United States, challenges high-school students and mentors to design and build a (teleoperated) robot to play a game in six weeks. Founded by
Dean Kamen, of
segway, IBOT,
the first home dialysis machine, and
clean drinking water fame founded the competition in 1988 to inspire students to enter the engineering profession.
Every year a new challenge is put forth, and
this year's game involves placing inner-tubes on a cylindrical rack in addition to lifting other team's robots. A
sizeable community has sprung up around FIRST, with much attention paid to Dean Kamen's ideal of
gracious professionalism which is like sportsmanship without the sports.
The 2007
regional competitions provide teams an opportunity
to show off their work. If you're interested in getting involved, or just
watching the events, FIRST provides a handy
Event Locator.

My mp3 player was stolen from my locker, and I need to find the serial number to show it's mine. I registered it on the creative website when I got it. Is there some way to find whatever information about my player that I gave them? (I didn't write it down)

What do you like about your favorite music? Or, really, how do you describe music you like to someone else who has no clue who you're talking about?
