I can't make decisions!
I sell macs for a living. Do not buy a new macbook -- new ones are on the way. Do buy a $19 ethernet cable and run it underground to the studio. Then attach a Airport Express.
Problem solved.

Used Volvo on Spec from Dealer?
The problem with very low interest car loans is that they typically require the most expensive insurance packages known to mankind. My 4.49% turned into 19% when I took into account the low-low-low-deductible insurance minimums they required vs. basic coverage.
Also, I'd advice settling on a specific $ amount you and the dealer feel is fair and consider it a consulting fee.

Inexpensive, basic lens for a Nikon D40?
Nougat -- Nikon's consumer dSLRs no longer have the body motors with focus screw that the AF series lenses require. D40's only autofocus with the AF-S series (motor is in the lens).

Preventive Medicine
It just doesn't make financial sense for insurance companies to provide preventative care that won't benefit them when you're not their customer 40 years down the road.
... is the reason.

The Electric Slide... Scanner
Buy a nikon 5000ED (or whatever the current model is) and the robot batch attachment. Drop in 50 slides, come back in an hour or two. Repeat. Sell scanner to another family looking to do the same thing.

Looking for studies on govt programs to buy cars for the urban poor
There was an article in one of the seattle papers (time? pi? stranger? weekly?) within the last two years describing just that sort of program. good luck. Seemed to be focused on the areas a bit north of seattle. I think the profiled client was from lake city.

Careers Advice, Music or Medicine.
The nice thing about medicine is that you'll have money for nice instruments. Sometimes music-for-money-instead-of-love ruins the love. With medicine, your hobby cost is not an issue...

Fish Oil Pills - Once a Day or Three times a Day
I'll second the flax seed instead. Has a delightful nutty taste that is excellent on salads instead of olive oil. Heck. Bread. Pasta. Etc. No poo-problems. Yummy. Fish-burp-free! Give it a go. Just make sure to keep it chilllllllled.

Where should I contribute?
In 2004 I sent $169 to ACT. They claimed that $169 was enough to rent an shuttle van to bring voters to the polls. Targeted voters. I felt it was the most direct and empowering impact I could make.

Seems to me that with modern engineering, putting the premiums into doing a bang-up job on the retrofit is potentially a better investment. ?

Spam / Snooping in Vietnam
Perhaps you viewed a message that was either an image spam or had a loading clear tracking gif? The spammer would then have a record of you opening spams, and could do a ip lookup in a geo-ip database. Seeing that you were in Vietnam, they'd sell the address to someone specializing in Vietnamese targeted spam.
That's my educated guess.

How do I get drugs cheaper?
Trazodone at a small dosage worked well for me after I tired of paying for ambien. $7/month. Cheap. Bonus: it's like a lucid dream machine in pill form.
However, I solved my years years years long sleep trouble by heading to the gym for daily cardio workouts. Go figure. I feel much better in all ways now.

Camcorders can be awfully inexpensive these days. Perhaps a lower end Canon? And a boatload of tapes?
One of my most prized possessions is a box of tapes documenting my senior year.

Depends on budget, image stabilization is starting to trickle down into the not-highest-end point/shoot cameras.

The image stabilization is nice, but a virtually indestructible camera might survive longer.

The movie mode is a bit lacking, however.

Al Anon experiences?
The problem I have with *anon is that the members tend to become quite cultish amongst themselves. Often, I think, the person is looking for some sort of personal fulfillment/numbing sensation from the */drink, instead of engaging their friends in productive activities.
'successful' *anon people seem to very rarely re-integrate themselves into society and find all their social fulfillment in this new group. Unfortunately, this group engages in a self-defeatist... [more]
