First chapter book a child reads?
Books by Judy Blume are likely candidates. Other books such as "How to Eat Fried Worms", "The Indian in the Cupboard, "A Wrinkle in Time", and "The Phantom Tollbooth" also come to mind.

There are six-- I mean, five replicants.
The Joker killed a cop in Gotham General Hospital who came back inside to see why Dent hadn't yet been brought out. The Joker may have also killed Dent's nurse or some other hospital employee in order to gain access. These two deaths could plausibly have been attributed to Dent.

At the time, Gordon wasn't in a position to know that the Joker had killed them or that the Joker was even at the hospital with Dent. What he is in a position to know is that Dent escaped from the hospital and that two others in charge of his care and transport had not been accounted for and were likely dead. He might assume at that point that Dent was the one who killed them in order to escape and exact further revenge even though he would be mistaken.

The people on the bus were all present in the building across from where Gordon and some of his men were standing before he got the call from Two-Face. Granted, the positions of hostage and captor were reversed and so an accurate count would have been improbable. But we don't necessarily have to think that the cop from the hospital was to be on the bus at all. He may have been supposed to ride in his own car or another police vehicle and never reported back to the station. I had also assumed at... [more]

Iron Man plot holes?
Obadiah shouldn't have wanted to kill Tony anyway before knowing how he created the miniature arc reactors that powered their suits.

My shoes have been red all week so what's with the fifth day of jokes?
If you're comfortable with your quirks then go ahead and try to embrace them. I have a food quirk; I eat a lot, and I mean a whole hell of a lot, of salt. My friends comment about it during most of our meals together and joke if I don't put salt on something. Some people even wanted to buy me a salt lick for my birthday. It gets annoying sometimes since I know they know about it and it's expected on my part. I've said things to that effect to see no real change. Now I just expect people to say... [more]

It wasn't just a dream... was it?
Yes, absolutely. This happens to me quite often. There have also been certain medications that increased their frequency to about one or two a night.

I believe it was a translucent, yellow softgel cap type medication that I took while I had the flu/sinus infection several years ago. I may have been on other medication as well at the time but this is the one I remember having the nice side effect.
Also, Anonymous, now that you've been aware of this happening at least once, there might be times during lucid or vivid dreams that you can manipulate the situation as it were.

How to party like a 5 year old?
If you have the spare cash, rent a Moonwalk. The University of Florida sets these up in one of the quads during the last few weeks of school. Good way to get rid of some stress. You could try to find a ball pit too.

This one's been eating me up inside, so to speak: Silence of the Lambs
The Crow
I thought about Fargo but the 80's-ish setting and story line may leave it out on the view of some.
You could probably throw Scream in there as well.

I'll see your You've Got Mail and raise you Sleepless in Seattle. I didn't want to go there initially, but it is a 90's classic and the blueprint for YGM. When Harry Met Sally would be in there too if it had come out one year later. Done now. The nostalgia is killing me.

Books are Heavy!
You could also use spare rolling luggage. No worries about broken, wet, or otherwise damaged boxes. Less lifting overall. I use a foldable dolly during the summers to transfer 20+ boxes of books to classrooms every week. However, stacks of boxed books sometimes topple if I'm not rolling carefully enough.

Possible opposites of 'lonely': connected, or united.
Not as in "She has a lot of connections" but as in "I feel very connected with/to person(s)."

Why do repeated words turn into gibberish?
These also seem to be cases of jamais vu, the opposite of deja vu. The explanation for why it happens is similar to the one giraffe mentioned:
From a linguistic perspective, the phenomenon that a word after frequent repetition seems to lose its meaning is connected with the very nature of words. A word as a unit of language has three characteristics:
It has form, i.e. it is shaped out of sounds or, in the case of written language, out... [more]

Macbook Pro must be exhausted from lack of sleep
I'm having s similar problem with my MacBook. This seems to be a pretty pervasive issue. One of the recommendations that I've seen suggested but have not yet tried is to reset the PMU. There are other possible fixes in addition to this one offered on this thread. Hopefully one of them will help.

Did your family sing together?
I was born in 1981. Both of my parents sang to me all of the time as an infant. One song that they sang often was "Sweet Haven" from Popeye. It was the only thing that could calm me down. In fact, I have a video that they took of me sitting and crying in my rocker until they put the record on and started singing to me. My father would also sing "American Pie" to me. When I was a bit older, in elementary school maybe, my mom would come into my room and... [more]

I actually noticed my iPod doing this yesterday. This list of questions from Apple's discussion forums may help you out. The first question in particular contained the solution to my problem. If that particular solution doesn't remedy your problem, there are some other threads there that might help.

I guess I should mention that the answer to my problem and others like yours and mine was that the album was in shuffle mode, and the button to turn it off is hidden unless you're viewing the time control bar. Here's one user's description of how to turn it off this way:
When you are on the now playing screen tap on the album artwork and the time control comes up. right? next to it on the right side there is a shuffle icon (two arrows crossing each other) make... [more]

Tax Refund?!
I take it you're referring to the economic stimulus package. Here's a brief overview from the NY Times:
Sources on Capitol Hill and at the Treasury Department said the plan would send checks of $600 to individuals and $1,200 to couples who paid income tax and who filed jointly.
People who did not pay federal income taxes but who had earned income of more than $3,000 would get checks of $300 per individual or $600 per couple.... [more]

Democratic Primary Delegate Count of Terror
The on-air count that I just viewed on CNN had Clinton over 1100 and Obama in the 900's. While watching, the count changed putting Obama over 1000 and Clinton below 1100. Not sure if they were including superdelegates or not. I think that perhaps CNN.com is wary of attributing too many or not enough delegates while vote counts are still coming in from places like New Mexico. That is to say partly that the numbers are still changing and CNN's website isn't up to even their on-air projections.
