Swingers Clubs ruled legal in Canada
"I'm glad we here at Metafilter can so easily see past one of the classic debates of Philosophy of Law and quickly answer firmly questions which plagued lesser thinkers like HLA Hart, Lord Devlin, John Stuart Mill, Joel Feinburg..."
dios, isn't that what they call Appeal to Authority?

Restoring the old order
Dammit. I want a job where I can act like an arrogant tin god, swing my dick at complete strangers, befriend some of the nastiest people on the planet (Saudi Royal Family, for those who are unsure) and still rake in disgracefully large coin! And then see atrocities committed because I buggered up the region! And then retire at my family ranch in luxury drinking ice tea all day and playing golf! Yeah!

Sounds serious
Up here in Communist Canuckistan, we await the falling of dominos with some hope.
By and large us Canucks really rather like you Yanks. Most of us just think your current administration is a bit much.

Sorry, no offense meant to French or Canadians.
None taken. At first glance I interpreted your comment to mean that French and Canadians knew more history than the average American.
No offense meant to Americans. ;-)

If he's the sixth, doesn't that make him 006?
Clive Owen as Bond? Definitively. He's got all that it takes, including being physically imposing, which Connery was in spades.
Ewen Macgregor? Handsome chap, but way too skinny to be James Bond.

eurasian, wasn't Brosnan in The Fourth Protocol? The movie based on the Fred Forsyth book, with Michael Caine as the MI5 guy and the scrumptious Joanna Cassidy as the Russian artillery major.

Stop it or perish - get it ?
HuronBob: The cosmos was better off before we arrived...?
We are part of the cosmos. But if you want to insist on separation of man and universe, the cosmos couldn't give a rat's fart (there's the methane reference!) whether we're here or not. We're like a small raging pimple on the arse-cheek of a Ginormous Space Hippopotamus: inconsequential and gone tomorrow if you put a bit of cream on it.

Bill Hemmer is so hot
Paula Zahn is still an incredibly lovely woman. I saw her through the glass at the CNN studio in NYC a few years ago, and she has legs that go all the way up to her neck. Hawtness and then some.
But yes, I'd have to agree that Melissa Theuriau is just in a league of her own. I saw one of her broadcasts and decided I needed to improve my French right then and there. Mon dieu!

Burns Big Fire
Bunch of us were driving back from Horseshoe Bay in the late afternoon and we saw the smoke coming from Delta on the horizon.
We could smell the burning potash et. al. by the time we reached the south end of the Lion's Gate Bridge.

Maple Leaf Neighborhourliness
Despite what you may hear about "ugly Americans" in the international community, when it comes down to the individuals we love you guys. I have no doubt that if we were in your shoes the U.S. would haul ass to save our distinctly Canadian bacon.
Just keep your hands off our beer, eh.

kirkaracha: Given that you're from the U.S. (or land of the 3.5% alcohol content beers) that's rich. :-)
We do like U.S. "beer" up here, although it's usually listed under "soda water."

Pattern Emerges in Katrina Lack of Response Stories
Good lord. I really despise Bush and his cronies, but it's hard to believe the theories espoused by xymphora, particularly the one involving turning NO over to the Feds. Hard to believe because, I think, I just don't want to believe it. Wow.
