Hey, Will, Welcome ...
I seem to recall loving Cats Have No Lord and the mention of Scribblies member Patricia Wrede resurrected my memory of The Harp of Imach Thyssel. I can't remember any of the details of that one, but the cover art popped into my head immediately so it must have made an impression. A couple more re-reads to add to my list.

No problem BrotherCaine. I think I'm going to grab myself a copy online and see if it's as good as I remember. I've done that with a few books recently and, while some are every bit as wonderful as I thought at the time, others have convinced me that I must have had crap taste as a teen.
Not that you're going to do that, right, Shetterly!?

Hot Fun in the Summertime.
Well I won't be able to make dinner, but I know where Soundz is (was?) and may just have to pop in for the after dinner festivities...and my first meetup!

Ditto that. Got stuck working late, and when the location was finally somewhere convenient for me too. One of these days.

108 ain't bad.
I missed that one the first time too. I live in Riverdale in the Bronx, which may just be the world's retirement home capital. I know there are at least a dozen just within a few blocks of here.
This has me wondering how many untold stories there are floating around my neighborhood. I smell a project! CodgerTales.com maybe?

BIRTHDAY PONY?
Jeez, we're never going to get to 500 birthday messages at this rate.
Happy Birthday!

No witty title to see here, move along
While I'm inclined to agree with loiseau when it comes to other sites, I'll admit I would use a tag cloud that pulls the tags on posts I've favorited. For example, I tend to favorite a lot of music posts as bookmarks for revisiting when I have more time, and it would be nice if I could just see all those posts when I'm sitting in front of my computer with the decent speakers.

RPGs in Tucson
Snyder, somehow I knew you'd beat me here. I was considering a MeTa where the pen and paper gamers (or former ones like myself considering a return to RPGing) could post location and availability.
And the non-gamers would have one central place for all their "NERDS!" needs.

Joined the group, Snyder. If enough RPG-minded MeFites sign up, maybe the mods would be willing to add a link to it to the wiki?

Frontpage favorites behavior
Sometimes I forget whether or not I've favorited a thread I liked and rather than having to re-enter the thread to find out whether or not I did, a visible indicator that it's already a favorite would help.
I know I can click and be reminded if it's already a favorite, but it seems like it would be pretty easy to implement this (very glib, considering I have absolutely no idea what that would entail).

Makes sense, Matt, thanks. I guess there had to be a reason, since it seemed so trivial.

Ouch.
An online friend I met through ICQ many years ago is one of the most rabid MLP collectors you'd ever want to know. She's in her mid twenties, been collecting since she was 4 or 5, has had an article written about her collection in the local papers.
I'd love to forward that link to her but for all I know she *is* Princess Biscuit.

No Pepsi blue?
Oh come on. The Air is designed to appeal to the executive showoff demographic. The CEO who has to have the sexiest looking device to carry around to meetings. In the hope that if you get him on a Mac, he'll authorize the purchase of more Macs where PCs were traditionally being used. Honestly it's a pretty smart strategy.
My beef with the Air is that sure, it's thin. It's also 3 pounds. There are a few sub 2.5 pound PC laptops on the market, like the 2.3 pound Vaio I... [more]

NYC meetup - can we do some place on the west side?
EO is only a few blocks from my office though, so count me in. Never made it to a meetup before, since it seems they're usually east side.
PS: Only losers drink above 15th Steet.
Need to qualify that with "or below 96th"...there are fun places to drink in Harlem and the various Heights, and even a few in the Bronx. (I like dive bars.)

A modern retelling of Narnia with the kids stepping through the wardrobe into the Bronx? That has all the makings of a modern masterpiece.
