Seconded. Sounds good.

MeTa post: "Another" Chicago Meetup?
I'm very flexible this month and would welcome a meetup.

MeTa post: Meetup in Chilangolandia, órale pues.
I will be there from April 1-5 and was going to suggest a meetup myself. If it can happen in that time frame, that'd be great.

The nights of the 2nd, 3rd or 4th would be my preference. The night of the 1st is a possibility, though that's the day I get in and I might be a little mareado.

Any location is fine by me.

Shall we stick it in the sidebar then for April 4?

Excellent. 8pm. Thanks for the map.

waylaid, I'll try to wear my MetaFilter t-shirt. That should help a little. (Although I do like the thought of asking around for friends of el Sr. Jaui.)

Can someone recommend an online callejero/metro trip planner so I can make my way there?

So good to meet all of you! I'm really glad this worked out. As the bearer of the camera, I realize it falls to me to post the photos somewhere. I've got a layover tomorrow, so hopefully I can get it done then. (Otherwise, it might have to wait till after my birthday Sunday!)

Thanks, guys. Photos are up. Go nuts!

(If you ask me, damn attractive group for a bunch of slobs on the internet.)

MeTa post: Buenos Aires Meetup
Sounds good to me.

conifer, if it's just you and me, it'll be my third straight two-person MeFi meetup here! Whoohoo!

One of these days I'm going to hit a three-person meetup and it's going to seem crowded.

Shall we sidebar this meetup then?
posted to MetaTalk by veggieboy at 7:28 AM on March 11, 2008
I threw caution to the wind and sidebarred it myself. What time did you have in mind, conifer?
posted to MetaTalk by veggieboy at 3:37 AM on March 12, 2008
Crap! Why did it have to start raining right as it's getting to be time to set out?

Great time last night. Hopefully I'll be able to swing back by again before I split.

Thanks again for the drinks!

MeTa post: What's a "rickroll"?
Wow. I somehow managed to miss this whole meme, and I don't think it's because I need to spend more time on the Internet.

MeTa post: No snark here.
Krrrlson, that ASCII art takes me back to a simpler time, a time when shitting elephants roamed free.

Wait. You can get relative time stamps on posts, languagehat? I mean, evidently you can. Can I?

MeTa post: Possibly, Secret Santa
You're not the only one who feels this way, bondcliff. I was coming here to say the same thing. I really don't want to be that guy and I don't mean to pee on anyone's parade, but wouldn't it be better if the effort were spent accumulating less crap and doing something more meaningful?

I never understand why people respond in this fashion.

I just didn't want the idea to get lost in the shuffle. Also, these kinds of things don't usually appeal to me and so my opinion is colored by that. But no one made me Judge Judy and executioner, so I'll just go back to knitting socks for orphans.

I agree.

MeTa post: Can we dial back the youtubery?
Do you know what I think?

I think that all this negative energy aimed at YouTube posts should be focused on improving the quality of videos at YouTube!!!

You say quixotic, I say anything is possible if you just believe.

Though this costume DID contribute to my getting some action...

Deservedly so, hermitosis!

And I'm glad to know I'm not the only one changing the photo all the time, jessamyn. I had a photo of me at one point. Now I have fruit. Same difference you say? Meh, I say.

MeTa post: this is the TITLE box, isn't it?
I have noticed a lot of this lately too.

Maybe you could add a line to the effect of "Many people will never see this part of your question" or "People need to be able to understand the question without reading the title." (Needs help with the phrasing, but you get the gist.)

Because I look at the front page and then I read the more inside, but I rarely look at the title of the web page. Or if I do, it's as an after-thought.

I have been published in newspapers and magazines. (And while the stuff is probably all available free online, you are welcome to pay me directly if you get to feeling guilty.)

Didn't mean to be coy. Since other people are linking, here are some links. Like I said, pay what you think is fair.

Mayor Peace Love and Unity, would you ever consider violence against Mayor Curley? Someone needs to kick his ass.

MeTa post: Buenos Aires meetup?
jontyjago, I'm flexible. That sounds good to me. Midweek is OK, too, if you'd prefer not to march off the plane and into a meetup.

I'm emailing some people whose profiles show them as local, so we'll see if anyone else chimes in.
posted to MetaTalk by veggieboy at 6:48 AM on October 3, 2007
What say you all to the evening of Sunday the 14th? Seems it would work for jontyjago. Works for me.

Can that work, jazzido? Conifer, do you at least have a shot of making it the 14th? (Or do you know it's impossible?)
posted to MetaTalk by veggieboy at 1:05 PM on October 3, 2007
No sweat, conifer. A meetup at the bar sounds great, but I was asking about a meetup elsewhere for the 14th. I just meant: Do you have something that would absolutely prevent you from making a meetup that date, or is there at least a chance you might make it, time permitting?

I see the bar via your link in your profile. Cool.
posted to MetaTalk by veggieboy at 3:02 PM on October 3, 2007
Seems like Sunday the 14th will mean at LEAST two people -- three if jazzido makes it! We're going to have to make up in Malbec what we lack in numbers.

Jazzido, any input on where we should go? King's Town on Jufre would be a good option but they're closed Sundays. I've always wanted to check out La Cava Jufré (Jufré 201).

Conifer, suerte with the bar. I'll hold you to that meetup offer in a few months.... [more]

Sorry, micayetoca, didn't see your post before I hit the button.

Maybe if Cyrie's up for it, we can do a coffee meetup this Sunday late morning/early afternoon?
posted to MetaTalk by veggieboy at 7:09 AM on October 4, 2007
Clarification: I mean this Sunday in addition to Sunday, 14 Oct! I'm down for two meetsup in a week!
posted to MetaTalk by veggieboy at 7:20 AM on October 4, 2007
What's late evening for you, jazzido? Should we have mercy on jontyjago, who will have stepped off a plane that morning?

Can 21.00 work?
posted to MetaTalk by veggieboy at 2:30 PM on October 4, 2007
Excellent. I've sidebarred it as a meetup, then. Here's the location. Jontyjago, it shouldn't be too far from where you're staying.
posted to MetaTalk by veggieboy at 2:12 PM on October 5, 2007
This didn't go well, did it?

I showed up and waited around a bit, but the bar turned out to be closed and 20 minutes or so was my limit for standing on a dark street corner.

MeTa post: big ups.
Oh, Flo. You slay me!

But I came here to express my love for Mayor Peace Love and Unity. In a universe and website where there is so much discord, I find Mayor Peace Love and Unity's posts to be too few and far between. Though I am OK with that, since he should post at his leisure and not be forced to conform to my expectations.

MeTa post: So, did you survive eating the sandwich?
I won't be WOOFing this Nov-Dec-Jan. It's still definitely on the list for next year at that time.

I am still trying to figure out how to write once and get paid twice. It's a tough nut to crack. A friend who freelances a lot more than I do has managed to do it, but mostly through happenstance, where someone has come to him.

I used half-pint jars and all was well. I learned a lot about canning this summer — even found out about a new kind of... [more]

I kept following links to Ask.Me from Lifehacker. I spent about a year lurking before I joined.
