Well, I don't know about anyone else, but the customer support responses received by dude trying to sell on ebay sound exactly like the customer service response I get at other online sites - especially tech support tickets.

The customer service reps appear to be pressured to answer X number of queries per hour. They skim, see one or two key words, and kick out canned response Y. Case "resolved." Boss happy.

Well, I have my doubts about this being any sort of conspiracy, but IF all of these things are related (beyond the obvious drunk and a danger to self connection), then the common graffiti motifs (IF they are in fact common to the actual "crime" scenes) might be explained by some sort of frat meme that's spreading around. I'm not sure what this might be - some sort of dare/ritual/hazing thing?

I, for one, do not understand the anti-wind-turbine-because-of-aesthetics crowd. I think they're awesome - big, stately, quiet, and a lovely precursor of the ultra-modern high-tech lifestyle they're always promising us in movies set in the future (or the Jetsons). Plus, I'd much rather have one of these in my back yard than a nuclear power plant.

We have two main overhead fixtures downstairs in our home office, and each takes two bulbs - we put a regular CFL and a so-called daylight spectrum CFL in each fixture and that seems to produce the right blend.

It was thanks to a similar MetaFilter post that I clued in about one of these coming on and managed to shut down the TV before my three year old and two year old saw them. Like someone else mentioned above, they were on during a hockey game.

The part that got me most about this story, was the fact that she wouldn't let him have a cell phone... in case he lost it. Apparently she thought it was okay to for him to potentially be lost, but lose a cell phone? Heck no, those are expensive. [The other way of looking at that is that apparently she thought he wasn't responsible enough to take care of it, but somehow was responsible enough to go home on his own?]
