Goddamn, that is a shame.

MeTa post: Please, for the love of all that's holy
I feel compelled to comment in the thread where Brooklyn Couch is outed as PP. Who doesn't want to be a part of history? I wasn't surprised he would come back after that LGF thread. I suspect that this thread could get reeeaaaallllyy big.

MeTa post: In my mind, I've gone to Carolina, and in May, I'll be there in person.
I would love a meetup! I can do any of those days, but I will be sans vehicle over Memorial Day weekend, and since I live about a half hour away from Raleigh, that would make it tough for me to attend. Of course, my obvious suggestion is that everyone should just come to Carrboro.....

MeTa post: It's hard to be a mod.
When I was little, there was this old nun at our school, I can't even remember her name now, but she ran the cafeteria. When we would start to get rowdy and out of line, she would slam her wooden staff down on the ground and yell, "Quit being dorks!". Thanks, Jessamyn, by way of Incessant, for bringing back a fond memory. I don't ever want to stop being a dork.

MeTa post: Are some more worthy of respect than others?
Konolia, I don't normally theorize about the motivations of others, I have a hard enough time parsing my own. That said, for some reason, this lazy Sunday afternoon, I can't help but think that you are a little bored, and interested in stirring up the Metafilter community. For some reason, as you wrote your piece, I suspect that in your head you wondered, "How many people are going to respond to this? Can I get over 200 comments?"
I think you already knew that most people... [more]

MeTa post: Chapel Hill/ Durham meet-up?
I am so there. Wherever it is, but of course, I would prefer it to be CH or Carrboro. Why is Tyler's in Durham so much better? Greta Simone, I like your idea. Any day of the week. Please just tell me, I will be there.

I am SO THERE.

Hell, I'll do Wednesday and a weekend meetup as well. Just tell me where to go and when. I'll probably be the first one there.

I can't speak for anyone else, but I'll still be there.

Thanks for the pictures, Stewriffic. It was really great to meet y'all, and we have to do it all again soon. Stewriffic, you make a compelling case for a Durham meetup. I think we should do it there next time. Maybe then we can finish our conversation about whether or not Galego constitutes a distinct language or a Portuguese dialect! I'm still leaning towards dialect, but I would love to have your insight and superior learning on the subject. I was sad you left so early. Thanks for bringing... [more]

MeTa post: Ho, Ho, Ho.
I got a beautiful Arts and Crafts rug and a mandoline to slice my veggies just so and heaps of socks and a soft little robe and an immersion blender and all sorts of Hello Kitty shit and books and more books. My family goes over the top at Christmas time. I love it. Viva consumerism.

MeTa post: 3100 flavors of awesome
But, more than that, I'd love to see a number of MeFi potlucks in various cities.

I have seriously thought about doing this, as a matter of fact, I half-heartedly mentioned it recently over at Metachat. No takers, though. I would love to do a food-based meet-up, where we all brought our favorite dishes found on one of the metas. It would be mangiare-meta! Oba!

MeTa post: LRB Shoutout
Cortex (Matt or Jessamyn for that matter), what are the use/view percentages? The blue vs. green vs. gray, etc. I was surprised that Ms. Diski would say that only 5% of members participate on the gray. Is there some place we can view what sort of traffic each page sees? Oh, wait. Is that a pony I am asking for? If I get it, I am TOTALLY naming her Cricket.

MeTa post: All hail DaShiv.
Prolific mefi posters have always been famous in my book, now they are famous to one and all. If I were to ever run into one of y'all in the streets, I would squeal and ask for an autograph. Metafilter: bigger than the Beetles, which are bigger than Jesus. Metafilter: God.

MeTa post: Virginia Beach Meetup
How late will you be there? I am actually driving to Va Beach on Friday (from Chapel Hill), so I won't get in until ten-ish. I have never been to a meet up before, and I am dying to meet other mefi-folk!

MeTa post: Scary...
I am consistently amazed that health care costs in the United States have sky rocketed out of control (we all have our stories of egregious costs, I won't add mine to the mix), yet there is still a rather large contingent in Washington that would still rather argue about gay marriage. Gay marriage won't be the undoing of this great civilization. Catastrophically high health care bills will.

I haven't seen anyone mention it yet, but I for one, am smoking hot. Line forms behind me.

I voted for Matt's answer, and I didn't even bother reading any of the others.

MeTa post: Mmmm. A one-link post to a mediocre commercial....
I took one shot at posting in the blue, and I doubt I will ever do it again. If I ever find anything cool to post again, I am keeping it to my damn self. I hate the thread-pissers.

Welcome to the internet, n00b: Sometimes people make fun of you. Fucking unclench.

Thanks, Klangklangston, for proving to me what I already knew. You have only reinforced that I will try to limit my participation to askmefi. People are asses for no real good reason at all - other than it is easy to be shitty on teh internets.
And to think, I actually thought that sometimes you could be clever *sniff*

MeTa post: Shorter dgaicun: 'I know nothing about this...
Pretty nice response dgaicun. I thought the call-out was a little weak in the first place, and now reading your (rather) well-informed comeback, I see you had no intention to derail, you really have a point! Food for thought...
