Thank you for putting mail on the site in the first place!

Photograph this!
Holy crap, what a thread. It was chatty, but fine - interesting to see so many people who don't like to get photographed. Then nixerman just knocked it out of the ballpark for compassion and empathy with his "if you don't want photos, stay at home" crap. (I'm being sarcastic, obviously).
Telling someone to get over themselves in this situation is pretty freakin' rude. I don't usually comment on other people's posts to call them out for being rude, but if I... [more]

Another ask site
Yeah, I saw this site a while back and put in in my Flickr stream and ranted a little about it - the cofounder responded to me, which was nice to do. My frustration isn't so much with them but with any startup which thinks they can take on established players without having anything particularily new to offer. It's the same thing in the video sharing arena - you've got to be offering a lot more to go up against YouTubeGoogle, no? And nine times out of ten they don't really have anything... [more]

My pony involves managing favourites - help!
Yes, Brandon, I'm trying to go outside more often - honest. And thanks for that, Quin.
And yes, I'm learning taste and judgment - also trying for 'kindness' and 'non-snarkiness towards others', but I'm probably failing at that.
mdevore, if you help me with it, I'll adore you forever. No rush on this - just when you get a chance at some point. I'd work out a UI if it helps. Thanks for the volunteering for help for this!

Please accept my apology
I should probably apologies for writing something snarky like,"a call-out about yourself to assuage your guilt?".
what mandymanwasregistered said. I had pretty much forgotten that thread, but um, thanks for resurrecting it since it was so delightfully cheerful in the first place! (I'm being sarcastic, just in case someone has to ask).

dreadpiraterobots? Mhahaha...
And yes, it's frustrating when the thread becomes less about thoughtful discussion and more about sticking a fork in an overdone meme - I blame the influence of slashdot myself. These things really are crapshoots, though - for every giggling snarky comment there are a bunch of insightful ones, so it does balance out.
Online discussions are one of the few instances where something like Word's track changes feature... [more]

I'm not big on doing the call-outs, but when the question poster Mach3avelli asks a question and provides a big ol' great bunch of examples, well, just wanted to thank them for the thread.
Oh, I don't know, EndsofInvention - because he highlighted what he thought was good, which helps us answer his question, and yes, sharing the links to what he liked seemed to be a nice thing to do. There are lots of good examples of AskMes, and sure, I tend to pass on the mixtape questions, too... but this one seemed interesting to look at a specific type of musical occurance across genres.

The picture of your son with his first flight certificate is adorable - as is he. Thanks so much for sharing these - nice to see this kind of real world follow up, and the joy of a kid experiencing something for the first time is priceless. It's like seeing matthowie's pics of his kid *glasses steam up, eyes well up with tears, etc. etc.* Good stuff, kids.

Love the design (viva transparency!) and the content looks swell, too. I love it when people share their best practices and experiences - it really helps people just starting out *and* the old geezers among us as well. Would that more people did it. Kudos for starting this out... looking forward to following the adventures.

Nicely said, Liosliath. Matt I sincerely hope you don't waste any more energy on either interaction (the whole 'waaah, you stole our design' crap, or the 'waaah, I've got a list of grievances with you including some meaningless shite about giftcards'). I'm far from a worshipper in the Cult of Web Celebrity - you're a decent bloke and good luck with this latest new blog, the content of which will be eagerly read since there isn't enough of its type out there. Shooty McGunpants
I guess the question is fine, although a little creepy, somehow.
I guess I try and gear the question to the audience; since I know a lot of coding folks are on here I don't worry about asking a question about coding (even if it's 'just' CSS). But surely if someone's got a specifically specialized question that's guarenteed to kind of freak most people out about - oh, I don't know, gun holsters? - you'd go to a more niche kind of community - I'm thinking there are no... thank you, pheariez - people do tend to refer to Government as if it's a monolithic entity. I've been a civil servant, and that will quickly teach you that there's a variety of faces and skill sets behind the face of 'Government'. It's like refering to 'society' as if one version of it exists.

Too much hate, too much judgment
Oh, I don't know - aren't there some instances where celebrities can get exhausted without it being refered to as "grade-A bullshit"? I'm as cynical as the next person, but I try not to let my cynicism get in the way of empathy for my fellow human. I too was a little irked at the tone that kept on cropping up in that thread. I'm all for a little snarkiness in the comments, but at least if you're going to snark about something be witty and intelligent about it. Snarking at the misery... [more]

well, what about something like what the folks at upcoming.org had (before they got bought by Yahoo) - a development wiki under the section marked "Feedback and Announcements"?
