A (US) government agency wants to create a database of data that is voluntarily submitted by members of the public.
The database has fields of data that get populated, some with personal data.
The data records are made freely available to the public either through a regular periodic data dump, or through FOI requests, although personal data is blanked out (some fields in their entirety, some fields partially)
To what extent can said agency decide it also wants "non-FOI fields" added to the database. What is allowed to be exempted from FOI requests other than personal data?

Why do I shake when I wake?
When I go to bed, I typically fall asleep very quickly. If I am woken within a few seconds, such as by my wife getting into bed, or trying to talk to me, which happens a lot, I wake with a fine but really annoying and persistent tremor right through my whole body, and the skin on my face feels like it's crawling around. The tremor prevents me sleeping until it subsides perhaps an hour later.
What gives?

I am working on a book plot that relies on some members of a family developing depression and erratic behavior. I need ideas for an environmental cause of such behavior inside their home.

If musculoskeletal pain responds well to acetaminophen (paracetamol), but does not respond at all to anti-inflammatory meds, does this tell us anything about the origin or cause of the pain?
Other than, "it's obviously not inflammatory pain".

My mum had a bad car accident with head injuries in 1984. She has been taking 100mg trimipramine daily since then. I only found out about the medication today after insisting she attend a doctor, and visiting with her. Ever since the accident, she exhibited a small amount of mental confusion, but not enough to interfere with her leading an independent life. Until now.

I have a couple of ongoing problems at work and at home that require a lot of work and attention to detail. This is quite stressful for me and my family. I need to get involved in family recreational activities because otherwise both I and they will get stressed out. Nonetheless, I can't help feeling irritated and angry by these activities, even if I am the one suggesting them, because they feel like a waste of time and energy compared to the problems that need sorting out. How can I change how I feel about these things?

I am currently dealing with an Oracle-based application that on many of the screens returns data in what I call
"hysterical order" (seemingly random to the casual observer).
In fact, the application applies no ORDER BY logic to the underlying data, which ORACLE returns in an undefined order (actually the order the data was entered). This is useless in practice.
I don't have the ability to change the application in any way, but I
do have access to the database.
I am aware that it is non-standard in relational database theory to be able to specify a default ordering for tables, but in Oracle, are there in practice, any modifications I could make to the underlying tables that will not cause the app to break, but will allow me to specify the
default order of the data when there is no ORDER BY used? I can identify a column in each table which should be the default order.
It is a long time since I was a DBA, so I am a little rusty on current Oracle practice and capabilities.

How does my Windows Mobile PDA communicate with our office Exchange Server successfully without using a VPN, when I have to use a VPN with Microsoft Outlook to get at it?
(And then are there any PC-based programs that can use the same technique as the PDA?)

Just recently, my fingers and hands are suddenly going prune-like (shriveled and wrinkled at the ends), just as though I've had a long bath.
When it happens, it happens for a few minutes at a time, and then they return to normal. I get a few episodes in an hour or so, then nothing for a few days.
Oh, and it's mostly one hand at a time.
The beginning and end of each episode seems quite short duration. While I can't exactly see the wrinkles develop or disappear, they appear or disappear within about two to three minutes.
What gives?

Can ActiveSync be augmented?
I use the task list on my PDA extensively in a GTD-like manner. However, I would like my tasklist to be synchronized with my Outlook tasks via our office Exchange server.
My PDA is a Pocket PC running WM2003 SE. While Windows Mobile 2005 can sync tasks with a server, WM2003 cannot - instead it can only sync tasks with a PC.
So, the question is whether any third-party solutions exist to provide a conduit or some such, for Tasks for WM2003 for Exchange.
Any takers?

Recommendations for web research software please. I need to research several items a day, which arrive in email, or arise during the course of conversation, or during the course of other research. I need to track such items, record our current disposition, stance on the issue, record research underway, attach documents, links, analysis documents, slideshows, etc.
