MeTa post: Is MeFi the new digg?

Im not talking about my two posts. I dont really post, because I dont spend enough time on the web to find anything that I think is worthy of the blue.

Then, I come here and read the same topics about Alberto Gonzalez, Lindsey Lohan that I find on Digg, or the latest youtube craze, or some other repost from Digg or reddit or fark and wonder "what happened to the metafilter that wooed me into her sweet bosom?"

So Im an idiot. Thats fine. I still dont understand why 60-70% of MeFi is reposts from Digg. If I read it on Digg, I dont need to read about it on the blue. Sure, many people dont read digg, but lets focus more on the posts that have a point and a topic with several supporting links.

Metafilter doesnt move fast enough. Plus, I read digg for the political commentary.

I used to read metafilter because it would provide certain topics that transcend news. Still does, just with less frequency...

Smackfu, Excellent points. I should have come in here, but I was on my way out to lunch... I got back and had a conf call... Anyway.

It's not really the good posts that I am complaining about, it's the one link posts that show up 20 minutes after they make front page on digg that I don't like.
