I discovered mobile.metafilter.com last night and I fell in love after noticing that it's only a couple of KB versus the 33KB of metafilter's full site in Opera Mini 4.

Sadly, the site can't be browsed because there's no 'Next 5 posts' link.

Isn't marking a reply as 'best answer' enough? I mean, the asker saw the replies, thought about them and then marked the ones he or she thought were the best, acknowledging the effort that the people who answered made.

Yes, getting a 'thanks guys' is great, but knowing that the asker found the answer should be enough.

I have learned a lot from AskMeFi. The relationship threads taught me that stuff from the movies can also happen in real life with even more angst.
The grey is also interesting with its metadiscussion of the community.

For the most part ,MeFi has expanded and complemented the opinions I already had, with some exceptions, like the homeless thread.

However, I still blame most fat people for their being fat.

Does any client even import .csv?
I realized afterwards that I said .csv because I've seen forum software that offer it as an option for backup but only because they accept .csv files for importing.

I'm not anonymous. While I use 'Memo' as my handle, my profile has my name, my website, my flickr account, my not-up-to-date librarything account and my last.fm account, where everyone can see that I like to listen to videogame OSTs. I'M NOT ASHAMED. (Besides a whiny question I posted on AskMeFi).

Being serious, my non-anonymous status is almost inconsequential because I don't post enough to make it notable enough for Google.

WhatIsItFilter: help me ID this weird thing I found. It's flat, maybe 2.5 by 3.5 inches but made out of some thin, flexible material. Series of 16 number in groups of four, and somebody's name -- I guess? -- carved into it. There's a creepy black stripe on the back, and some indecipherable writing. I asked all my friends, and we're totally freaked out. Google returns nothing. Help!

What is this supossed to be, anyway?

I visit AskMefi, MeTa and MeFi, in that order.

I read AskMefi because I love learning new things, MeTa because it's interesting to read people complaining about everything and MeFi... because I'm bored at the time.

I tend to post very little because I feel that the Metafilter 'crowd' is a closely knit group and the necessary effort to fit in is greater that my current interest on it.

After realizing I'm probably not the first person in the world with the no-receipts checkbox idea, I checked Thunderbird and discovered that I can disable them permanently. This is awesome. I had never thought of searching for that setting before.
