The Best of "How to Date & Flirt the Mefite Way"
Seconding the vote for StickyCarpet's comment below:
In a long term relationship, I think of there being at least five legs to the table:
safety: financial and physical, can you meet your needs together, are you healthy for each other?
sexual: well, you know what that is.
friendship: do you entertain and interest each other when you are not having sex?
social: do you make a unit that reinforces... [more]

My comment was deleted; how did I transgress?
Are we able to discuss the thread though? Because really! WTF? Three weeks ago his girlfriend says "we're more than just really good friends," and now he's going ring shopping with her? And his response about her lack of interest in the whole thing is telling as well. And shroedinger is right, this is a really serious decision that this kid is making. They agreed to go off to college (18?) and see where it goes and then he states that he, "supports her decision." By... [more]

get out of jail free
I agree that a major problem is the with-holding from the employer. She's just in for a world of trouble with that one. However, I see nothing wrong with the question itself, and in fact, I think one of the items you are calling out is dead wrong: The premise of the question is silly: how can I erase publicly available information someone posted the internets, etc.
That question is actually a GREAT question. And I mean that with all sincerity. A... [more]

I'm one that answers but doesn't ask too often. Luckily, there isn't a whole lot that either A - can't be answered by already searching the AskMe or B - I can't find elsewhere. Answering is fun and a good mental break for me.

For me it's k8t and thepinksuperhero (k8t more so than tps). I end up agreeing with them while reading their comments and then I get to the end and find out it's them. At this point I'm almost able to predict it. Particularly if it's a comment that really resonates with me or my experiences. I also recognize klangklangston sometimes too before I get to his name. I think it's the youthful authoritative confidence mixed with a splash of aggression he sometimes displays.

This AskMe appears to be getting nasty with...
The OP has determined that he might not be able to get his employee fired if he goes through the normal, legal and socially-acceptable methods of termination. So he's contemplating resorting to blackmail and asking if it's always illegal (which, I thought it was, but IANAL). And then asks if he could get in trouble (seriously, duh). And then says he doesn't want to hear anyone say that he shouldn't get rid of the guy. I think pyramid termite is right on.
The fact... [more]

The notion of contacting his wife is tacky and fraught with problems. That is not a proper or professional response.
Actually, I think this response by rmhsinc is rather well-said. I'm genuinely curious to find out if this is okay, since it doesn't seem quite as judgmental. It deals with the behavior rather than the person, as Caddis mentions.

The OP knows blackmail is illegal. Otherwise he would have titled it: "Is blackmail illegal?" rather than "Is blackmail always illegal?"
As I read it, he's hoping that his actions and situation will fit within some framework of acceptable blackmail. It's like asking if it's illegal to kill a man because he was homeless and raped your girlfriend. Basically stating that you are hoping that the circumstances of your unique situation make it... 23skidoo - I see your point now. Thanks for the clarification.
Ramix, I was wondering that too but thought it could really go either way.

you'd all be wise to ignore me. *laughs*
Next time put this in the original post, not the fifth post.
Personally, it's easier to type like a normal person than it is 4 me 2 type kewl (ugh, that was rough). Not to mention I don't think we come on here to do brain teasers. I think the headline and a related question would be fine, but this one is a little out there. "Help me with my paranoia" does not equate to... [more]

Doohickie: agreed, but I'd have clicked just out of curiosity. But then again, I'd have also used real words. Yikes, I'm being catty - I need to go eat something!
In all seriousness, I can get over bad typing, as fun as it is to mock. The question was poorly phrased/misleading though.

The first question was the better of the two: it referenced a very specific, universal exeperience ("passing one another") and universal emotion ("power trip"). ... The second question failed to set a good stage, but the thread rescued it by providing insights into the same emotion in other social situations. I found it a more interesting thread, but that's probably because I already know about the male experience.

Actually, brina, you are a special snowflake. Don't let any hullabaloo scare you off, but I would definitely refrain from using "Theoretically, hypothetically" in your next AskMe post if you want it to last more than an hour :)

Caddis is right but I for one am now feeling guilty for the mean stuff I said. I hope he ends up alright after the beating he received from almost everyone.
I happen to be okay with the therapyfilter stuff since I find it interesting and entertaining, but I can see where it has the potential to get tiresome. If there's some sort of administrative headache that goes along with these sorts of things, as a few people have alluded to, then I'd reconsider that view.

Cunning, I'm pretty sure that was a crack at me so I'll clarify. I find it interesting and entertaining to read other people's responses and the various interpretations of the same story. Basically, I like watching the thread evolve as the day goes on. If it's not a crack at me, then I'm too sensitive and need to post my own therapyfilter question about how to not take everything so personally when it comes from strangers on the internet. :)
