Sunday sounds great. My colleague with whom I am crashing wont get in until later, so I have no problem holding down the fort at the Castle until then.

I am staying at the hotel near by (the Phoenix) so I'll probably be there until 10 or so, but I will have to get up early monday so I can see the Great Prophet Jobs do his sermon in the morning.

MeTa post: Seattle Brunch
I was thinking a noon to 1pm for people to get started. I don't have any problem staggering the food orders (ie, order when you show up, I wont wait for everyone before i have my delicious brunch, its good food. also, may make life easier for them if they don't get 10 orders at once).

There is a nice patio area, so if its sunny we might be able to camp out there. The don't do reservations, so we will be playing the "lets hope no one else thinks this is a good idea" game.

MeTa post: Son of Mass Canoe Rental Meet Up Concept
There is a giant pink duck bike in my parking lot right now that was meant for the parade, don't know if it ever made it there.

I am down for the event, either friday or saturday works for me, especially if someone has a trunk I can lock my work bag in on friday, I can just make sure I catch the bus and get off in the U.

two is suggest. I'll volunteer to be the odd man out if it turns out as such, as I've spent many a summer soloing canoes, so I feel more than comfortable piloting one by myself.

Also, I can give any folks who are uncomfortable with the idea some quick pointers instructions on advanced topics like J strokes and other such things.

Who wants to put the Official Time and Place post up?

Hey, I hate to bail last minute, but I've burned out my back and shoulders moving out of my apartment yesterday and today, so I won't be able to make it. It looks like today will spent on codeine and the coach.

Have a good time, and keep an eye out for the ducks.

its a shame I missed it, but my back is thanking me for the heavy couch time

The qfc has been moved one block south to a building with a hot topic and urban outfitters

My new apartment is behind the pit next to the library on the hill, I can wait for the to pour the foundation as the dust sucks

I guess I'll have bring some other folks out canoeing this summer on my own

MeTa post: Give me disorder! In reverse descending order!
recent activity and favorites work if you manage to find the thread and tag it in some way to add it to your personal history view.

The case for this that I can think of is: Very interesting and indepth discussion takes place while you are away from metafilter (for shame), it falls off the radar of the front pages, and hasn't hit momentum to show up in the sidebar, and you don't have Miko or other such awesome commenters added as contacts, so you have no way of knowing... Also, I hope the space gets turned into a community space, anarchistic commune, or something in between.

Looking at the construction, I can't tell if they anticipated tearing down the walls and expanding over the area once it was available or not.

Atleast Mike's Chili Parlor still stands.

MeTa post: Clinton Obama Filter redux
In 6+ months, when whoever (please please please be Obama) has been elected President, someone can do an aftermath analysis of the whole democratic campaign. In that post, a link to a well written article on the fallout and scare tactics of Clinton mimicking those of the standard Rove attack ads can be included. In that article, Clinton's remarks will be highlight, and hell, you could even use her statement as the linked text to said article.

Until then, this post... [more]

Burhanistan- I agree. I want my anti Clinton FPP posts to have more substance than one link. I need at least two or three angry editorials, a Daily Show clip and Keith Olbermann's special tonguelashing to call it a worthy FPP. Also, choice embarrassing photos of Clinton, maybe her at a rifle range or something.

Cranberry- Olbermann made a very specific point, which was she didn't mention assassination the second time around when she was making the statement (as she had first done in March) and had not said it since until yesterday. Why would she make a slip of the tongue when she had repeatedly said the same sentence or similar phrases numerous times before without having to mention assassination.

Also, one would argue that her merits are flawed, and her actions (including... [more]

should be counted

should NOT be counted

Also, yes to bring up the other issue: if you wish to ignore history, then June makes sense in the past because of california. But California happened, she won it, AND IT STILL DOESN'T MATTER.

So now she is waiting out June because she is planing on a coup? on obama being taken out? or as people are now fearing, an attempt to run in 2012?

Burhanistan- Remeber, a shotgun is only useful for zombies at close range, as you have to destroy the brain. So something like a M1903 might be better at medium distance, or possible an over/under rifle/shotgun combo if you really want the shotgun. But when you think about it, something like a .22 rifle could suite best against actual zombies, enough force to take out the brain, and ammunition is cheap and easy to find, and easy to carry while on the move.

For Further... [more]

Red Lion actually. Big ole convention center hotel, so its pretty empty on weekends. Free wifi, and my last job used to put me up there (and it was a lot nicer than the la quinta).

I have survived. Photos will go up this evening when I get back to seattle, when I can relax on the couch.

Also, not hungover. And many thanks to cortex's friend who dropped me off at the hotel, as that made the evening much nicer.

How much does it cost to hang out with a bunch of mefites for 8 hours? about $60, same as in town.

Also, it appears there may have to be a regional mefite pinball tournament.
