Columbia, MD Meetup
Judging by the way this thread is going, I'm kind of hating the fact that parking in Federal Hill is so bad, otherwise I'd suggest the Dog Pub there.

1 travel bug + 1 back-to-schooler + love = ???
It seems like he's got some wild oats to sow and won't be able to relax until he does. The only thing I can suggest is that he goes off for a year or so while you finish your degree and you see if you want to pick up where you left off. The way it is now, nobody's really happy and it'll turn into a festering pile of resentment before you know it.

I guess I was wondering if I was the only one who noticed this. And was hoping that an offender could tell me why.

Next question: is there anything that can structurally be changed within the site to combat this?

Beyond annoying you (and others), what harm does this really cause such it requires a coded solution?
It reduces the usability of the site. I was just thinking something like a box you had to check before posting an answer that said something like "I have read the complete question and this is an honest attempt at being helpful."

Um...if someone is asking for a response, it's not a rhetorical question. I wanted to know if other people noticed this and if there was anything we could do about it. Apparently they do and we can't. Question answered.
(And yeah, I should have searched. But I was annoyed. Mea culpa.)

Make it so that the person that asks a question can visibly mark an answer as Dumb. Perhaps a little dunce-hat to the right of the answer.
I like this idea, actually. I'd just say that there would have to be...say, 20 'dumb' votes before the dunce cap comes out. It would at least discourage people from posting before reading.

But if 20 (or whatever) people all had to independently vote it stupid, I think that would prevent most tomfoolery. That said, point taken.

Why does this riding stable give me the creeps?
If they're ridden and turned out in the ring often, horses can do okay in a stall as their primary residence. The horses in stalls too small for them to turn around in seems like a problem, though. Are the piles of manure sitting there for extended periods or is it just there after mucking the stalls out? Cobwebs are common in stables...I wouldn't worry about that.
Overall, it seems a little unfortunate, but not what I would all abuse or neglect.

Should I take a chance on my last chance?
There is definitely a "meet, marry and move to Israel to pop out babies" message that goes on, but nobody takes it seriously and it just becomes a joke. I loved my trip...I went through Hillel by myself and ended up making friends that I still keep in touch with. Go!

NYC - One Night Only?
I was going to suggest Barcade. It's pretty geeky, but awesome and the L is easily accessible from anywhere.

Goodbye iPhone, hello cheaper monthly.
You can downgrade. I just did it....I bought an iPhone last October and decided a few weeks ago that it wasn't worth it, so I sold the iPhone and am now back on a regular plan. As long as you stay with AT&T, they'll work with you.

That which we call misogyny, by any other name...
Oh, come on. Her pro-life stance and religious views directly led to to have a child after the age at which it is scientifically deemed safe. That is politically relevant because it shows how strong her beliefs in are and where she lies on certain policy lines. If you can't see that, maybe you're not as ex-conservative as you thought.

Except her decisions about her family are direct outcomes of her beliefs on pro-life / religious issues and only serve to show how strongly she holds said beliefs.

But without saying "you shouldn't have made that choice" or "old bags shouldn't have babies" or whatever other junk.
But she has the right to say that women should not get abortions?

I never said that she doesn't have a right to have had the child. I don't care if you're fifty have a kid. However, if you're running for VP on a Pro-life, Creationist, etc. platform, I do think that the issue is up for discussion. If she has a right to say that women should not have abortions, I have a right to say that I don't believe her choice to have a child was necessarily the right one. What's the quote? "I don't agree with your choice, but I'll defend your right to make it."? I... [more]

Filtering favorites by tag?
Why can't there be a list on a sidebar on the favorites page of tags that you've favorited in order of prevalence? That seems like it would be easy enough to implement and would be so useful.

I'm not suggesting ordering by popularity. Rather, if your favorited tags could be linked to on a sidebar in decreasing order of how many related posts there are, that would rock.
ex:
Gardening (7)
NYC (5)
Vermont (3)
etc
Everyone's would be different.

swerve- I didn't see your comment, but I wasn't making an uneducated judgment. With enough money, natural talent and time, someone could start riding in their twenties and be an Olympic caliber competitor by their forties. I say this as someone who has been riding for almost 25 years herself.

No, but it was due to a lack of money, not a lack of talent. If the poster has a modicum of talent and shit tons of money...well, I've seen some crappy rich riders in my time on horses that are doing all the work. It can be done.
