The Yiddish Book Center would also be people I'd call. Even if your stuff isn't in Yiddish, they know where the people are who take old books of this vintage and aren't quite as busy as some of the other archives/museums. Here is one list of... [more]

Big thanks to everyone who could make it and brought food and games. I had a terrific time. Thanks cocoagirl for the little jam surprise this morning. We've been sitting on the couch drinking coffee and eating leftover pasta, broccoli salad, relish, guacamole, cheese, carrots, sodas and not dogs. I'm so pleased people were able to make the trip and spend so much time hanging out. I'll upload some photos later. For now we're going to return the recyclables and buy some suet for the birds and then probably go right back to chilling on the couch. Yay summer! [more]

Interesting to read so many of the essays grapple with the fact that they don't like her much, because they wish her truths weren't true. I always loved this about her work and at the same time it was always one of those "You must be... [more]

Right, but the Best Of blog (and the sidebar) are so infrequently updated that flagging as Fantastic almost always feels like wasted effort. Someone should probably get on that. Also my favorites are still mostly for "stuff I want... [more]

I don't care if you're polyamorous if you don't care that I'm non-poly. I have poly friends and non-poly friends and the only poly people I don't like are the ones who are constantly trying to sell polyamory to me as some sort of marked improvement... [more]
