Options for a few free days in southern spain?

I'm probably going to meet up with some friends to Ibiza in June, but I'm not much of a beach person, so if I get antsy, what else could I do with a few free days in southern Spain? I was thinking of spending a few days in Barcelona, but what are some other options that are relatively accessible from Ibiza? Also, advice for finding less expensive flights from the east coast of the US to Ibiza would be amazing.

Can you break down this song musically for me?

Can someone tell me what is going on musically in this song? I'm mostly interested in chord progressions and key changes, and especially what happens in the breakdown starting around 3:20 and continuing for the next minute or so-- does it just go up an octave or is there a key change, and why is that so emotionally affective? I'm not interested in production techniques or the percussion(which I already know), only the melody of the lead and interplay with the bass and pads in the background.

Good video games where spectators can participate?

My girlfriend and I really enjoyed playing Walking Dead together. I controlled it, but she made all the dialogue choices and helped solve puzzles. What are some other games like that? She's not really a gamer and doesn't really get FPS controls (yet) so stuff like co-op portal and even minecraft is out. I'm going to try and see how it goes with Braid next, but are there any other games like Walking Dead where people who aren't actively controlling it can help make meaningful decisions or contributions? I was also thinking Heavy Rain, but I don't have a Playstation, only a pc and Xbox.

free-wheeling cross country trip on a budget.

I want to spend two or three weeks driving across country this summer, then probably fly back to the east coast. I have a decent amount of money, but I'd like to spend as little money as possible on travel costs and accomodations (so I can spend money on activities and siteseeing)

Thunderbolt for windows?

How do I get my windows box to work with my Thunderbolt display? I'm trying to get rid of an extra monitor. I'm willing to invest in a new motherboard and/or video card. Has anyone done it?

How do I get out of Guatemala city after I land?

I'm landing in Guatemala city at around 1:30 pm. I've been told I want to get out of the city to Xela or lake atitlan or Antigua as quickly as possible. Once I land at the airport, how do I find a bus to my destination and where should I go first? (I'm staying for a few weeks, so I'm on no set schedule)

When did people start calling the Attorney General "General So-and-so". It's seems like it's both wrong and a fairly recent "innovation".

Is it really possible to 'steal' the nomination?

I keep reading rumors of Ron Paul supporters sneaking their delegates into state conventions. How plausible is it that Ron Paul can get the nomination with this strategy? And if it can't get the nomination, what can he do with all the extra delegates?

An app to order random crap?

A couple of years ago, I read about a guy who wrote a script that would randomly order items that cost $1, so he'd get a bunch of cheap, unexpected stuff from all over. I think it was for ebay auctions, but maybe it was amazon. Does anyone remember this or know where his page was? And if you don't, does anyone know of something similar to that (automatically ordering random cheap stuff)?

Dog types and characteristics unique to asia

This article says that there is more variety in Asian dogs than in western dogs and that there are some dog types and characteristics that are unique to Asia. What are they? The article talks about DNA diversity, but doesn't talk very much about how the differences are actually expressed.

Art/Science Double Threats?

Are there any Great Scientists who are also Great Artists? If not right now, who was the last person who comfortably fit in both categories? For the purpose of this discussion, a Great Artist has produced museum quality work (or a great novel, or similar), and a Great Scientist has made at least one 'important' discovery or invention, however you want to define that.

Why are songs written in the key that they are?

Are songs in particular musical keys supposed to have a particular character? I don't mean whether the song is in a major or minor key, but different fundamental notes. Should songs in A minor have a particular feelings associated with them, that songs in D minor wouldn't? Why do people write songs in one key, but not another? Is it mostly a matter of instrument tuning or are there some feelings that you need a particular key to evoke? Is it mostly arbitrary? Do individual songs feel different if you transpose them up or down a key or three?

Bohemia in Despotic countries?

I'm interested in books about 'underground' or 'bohemian' sub-cultures in despotic regimes. Artists, musicians, intellectuals, or even party kids or 'hippies'. I know there's a ton of these about the Soviet sphere, but I'm also interested in ones in Islamic countries or Asian countries or South America. Fiction or Non-Fiction is fine.

Recovering lost data due to text-formatting?

Asking for a friend: I was entering some data into excel and I realized it was changing gene names into dates. E.g. there is a gene in my dataset called SEPT5 and Excel automatically makes this into Sep-05. If I manually set the column as text, it inexplicably changes the cell to a 5-digit number that represents that date, in this case 38596.

Thrillers about money?

What are some examples of fictional thrillers that revolve around some kind of currency manipulation or other arcane financial shenanigans? Spy novels, murder mysteries, police procedurals, action movies, doesn't matter what genre. Not interested in crimes like bank robberies, just white collar crimes. (Non-fiction about these kinds of capers is also acceptable.) The more arcane and complicated the scheme, the better.

Music makes me feel like...

I'm looking for audio of people saying interesting things about making or listening to music -- movies, youtube videos, hip-hop albums, tv shows, doesn't matter. I'm especially interested in people talking about how music or dancing makes them feel or why they make music, more than details of how they make it.

What are the best recent pen-and-paper RPGS?

I haven't look at a new pen-and-paper RPG since sometime in the mid 90s, but I'm kind of curious what's happened in the past 10-15 years or so? What are the best fairly recent pen-and-paper RPGs -- what are the most popular ones that are new. I assume stuff like D&D and World of Darkness are still around, but what are some fairly recentish ones that have gotten big followings? Have there been any that introduced really new mechanics or game play philosophies?

Just because you're paranoid...

What are some interesting conspiracy theories -- and websites and communities that support them? There are the classics like the Templars and Flat Earth and Elvis Is Alive, and newer ones like 2012 and chemtrails. What are some other interesting ones you've found? Please no current political conspiracy theories (though older stuff like the Kennedy Assassination is okay). I'm especially not interested in conspiracy theories centered around Obama or Bush. They're boring and will just start a political argument, which I'm not particularly interested in.

Is there a way to 'short' higher education?

Is there a 'bubble' in higher education? By that I mean, are there too many colleges right now, who are charging too much for tuition, and too many people paying too much for degrees, and taking loans that they will never be able to pay off? And assuming that there is such a bubble, and it were to burst, how would a deeply cynical person invest to make money on the collapse in the way that some savvy people made money on the housing market collapse?

What can't the human brain do?

What are some limits of the human brain? I think everyone knows that people can't keep more than 7 items in short term memory, and I was just reading an article here that mentions limits to the theory of mind (A knows that B thinks that C thinks.. etc). What are some other things that it is just impossible to think about or remember or to visualize? I'd prefer actual studies and hard data to anecdotes and folk wisdom, but I'll take either.

gmail 'reply all' wierdness with mailing lists

Google seems to have changed their 'reply to all' feature recently for lists with a 'reply-to' email address specified. Now when you click 'reply all' it sends an email to the person who sent the mail as well as to the list. I'm on a list where like 90% of the people use gmail and it's causing a problem, because some people habitually click 'reply-all' and some people usually click just 'reply'. What happens is, I'll click 'reply all' to an email, and some other person will click only 'reply' to mine and the reply will go back to me personally, instead of the list. Is there a way to revert this behavior?

What are the best RPG engines?

I want to write a text-heavy story-based RPG. I'm familiar with scripting languages like python and ruby, but I have no art talent whatsoever, so i'd prefer that whatever I use have art assets available, and I don't want to write an engine from scratch so I'd like to build off of an existing framework. What are my options? Free or paid, doesn't matter. It might be an RPG engine or an adventure game engine, or even a 3d engine, but whatever I use, I'd want something that would let me focus on writing and designing and less on programming the framework.

Where are the gourmet Chinese restaurants?

Why are there so many Chinese restaurants in America that serve really cheap, low quality food, compared to, say, Thai restaurants, which seem to always have fresher ingredients? I've seen what really good, genuine Chinese food looks like from shows like Iron Chef, and I'd love to try some, but every restaurant I eat at always seems like they serve reheated food out of vats. How can you find the good Chinese restaurants in your town? I know they must be out there.
