Is my boyfriend cheating on me or am I being paranoid?
Yeah, he's probably cheating on you. And you're spying on him, which means you already distrust him and will continue to violate his privacy and distrust him forevermore. Just break up already. No one needs this type of drama.

Fun activities for a couple at home
Watch movies - watch whatever you agree on that you love, or better yet you each get a movie you love that the other one hasn't seen so you can nerd out and convert them. Watch a "marathon" of three movies with a theme (same director, actor, genre).
Rent (or buy) a season or two of a really good TV show and then every time you hang out you have that back up ("want to watch some more Weeds?")
Cooking - learn how to cook... [more]

Buh-Bye, Please!
I'd like to offer a little bit of the flipside of this scenario, which might give you (and hopefully by extension, your mother) a little comfort:
I have been in this situation. A couple of times. Not this exact situation, but similar enough to understand what these people are going through. The very first emotion these people will feel is worry/fear - what will become of us? But the second, and more lasting emotion will be that of relief.... [more]

Mitheral - I don't have another plug other than the one the fridge is plugged in to. The outlet directly below the window doesn't work. The other outlets are on the opposite side of the apartment...and I'm guessing they won't work either.

Ok so I can get an adapter and then plug an extension cord into that? Or is that a bad idea? Because the cord does not even reach the plug to the fridge currently.

Where should I go dancing in Toronto?
Yeah, just know that they are within walking distance of each other - if you go to one and it's terrible you can just up and go to another. Clinton's is a fave of mine because if you get tired of dancing you can walk out and sit in the pub and eat delicious poutine. The Boat is usually good times and right in Kensington so there are other things to check out nearby if it gets boring.

Shy vs. not interested vs. passive?
While I'm all for girls not sitting around waiting for boys to pursue them (heh...in theory), I have to say that if there's one thing I've learned is that it's rarely worthwhile to waste time pining for someone who isn't giving you the same energy back. If you put yourself out there, and he's not giving it back, then move on until either a) he comes to his senses or b) you find someone else. Do you want to waste time on someone who can't be bothered to try even a little bit?

What non-traditional benefits could my company offer?
Maybe it's a standard elsewhere, but my grin was a mile wide for a week when I learned about out our summer hours - we get every other weekend all summer as a long weekend, so long as we piece together the missing hours elsewhere.
We also have flexible start/end times, so long as we put in 7 hours. We have crazy amounts of parties/office gatherings, with at least one "official" one every six to eight weeks - catered and all. The organization allocates three... [more]

What else is in this invisible backpack?
Your value isn't constantly assessed by others based solely on how you look and the level of painstaking detail you take in your beauty routine. You aren't expected as a general rule of thumb to remove all hair from your body, without question or complaint. You aren't expected to spend hundreds or even thousands of dollars on products to enhance your face and hair, at risk of being told you look unprofessional. You didn't watch the majority of your friends struggle with eating disorders and... [more]

Just Flush Please
Attention deficit? Not in the diagnosis sense, but in the sense that if they get distracted by something else like washing hands before they exit, they might walk out forgetting to do it. Since every other (read: institutional) facility they encounter either a) auto-flushes or b) requires that they flush before they leave the stall and wash their hands. So for most of the toilets they use, they are 1. Do business; 2. Flush; 3. Wash hands. But at home it's more like 1. Do business; 2. Wash... [more]

My shoes have been red all week so what's with the fifth day of jokes?
One of two things is going on here - either you're hanging out with jerks or you're being just too damned sensitive about it. Good-natured ribbing and in-jokes are how social groups bond together...that's why you can tell your buddy his beard looks like he glued his face and rolled around a barbershop floor. If you don't like that kind of teasing, you need to try to politely express this as a serious concern. If they won't stop/don't care - they're jerks.
Example -... [more]

Is fried cauliflower regional?
I've had it a few times, always in those kind of amalgamated middle eastern/greek places (you know, the ones that serve shawarma, falafel, souvlaki, etc but don't own up to any specific region/country?). Deep fried, not battered though, just crisped to the point of browning and tossed on a plate. Delicious.

Online pharmacy for Canada?
Trust me, there is no such thing. Even the ones who are run by *actual* pharmacists are completely unregulated and are allowed to do anything, including selling you the wrong meds, expired meds, etc. That is not the type of drug (a stimulant) that you want to be monkeying around with. If you are interested in off-label uses you are further risking yourself.

Because it threatens the concept of the nuclear family, of heteronormative monogamy. Those of Judeo-Christian beliefs see it as the way it was laid out by God to live - one Adam, one Eve.

Is my Muffaletta mix safe to eat?
It says "store under refrigeration" which likely means after opening...maybe they just mean they taste better cold? And none of those things, pickled, should cause you any harm if they were stored out of a refrigerator in a sealed jar. You buy pickled peppers, onions, olives, etc off the non-refrigerated shelf, yes?

I good bottle of Macallan (10-12 years) will likely be around $60-$90 CDN. It doesn't seem to me that any of the LCBO stores in Toronto offer delivery, unless I'm mistaken and/or their website is not functioning properly. I think you might have an easier go of it just sending an LCBO gift card.

How to license my songs to a student filmmaker?
For one or two of my student productions I used a few tracks from local bands . I would just draft an agreement (essentially culled from a Creative Commons Non-Commercial license) which said that I would not make money off of my piece and that if I did the terms would be renegotiated at that point. It wasn't a big deal, obviously, since my pieces sit gathering dust somewhere...

How do I report a doctor for bad care?
You need to make a formal complaint with the applicable health regulatory body for your state or province. There will be a formal complaints process or other way to let the people who license that doctor know that you have had a problem.
This is sadly common - there are whole forums devoted to people's concerns about doctors who blame weight/inactivity on every health problem first, telling patients "come back and see me when you've lost x pounds" leaving... [more]

Hmm. It sounds rather complicated. What if, you give her a necklace with an ornate key pendant, the key to which opens up a box which you can then put the ring in? This way, you can get some antique reproduction lock with fancy skeleton-type key, and it will just be a necklace/charm to her until the day comes. That way, no risk to the actual ring - do you really want her to hit an engagement ring with a hammer? What will it be encased in that will keep it from getting at the very least... [more]
