Ask post: Fun with Easter grass!
Well, if you put it anywhere somebody is forced to vacuum it up, that'll be mischevious. I've had to replace 3 vacuums because I keep forgetting to leave a note for the Easter Bunny to not use that damn stuff all over, and it burns out the motor after getting tangled up in the vacuum.
Perhaps just random nests all over campus filled with plastic easter eggs. Inside, you could make homemade "droppings". Just get some chocolate & melt it, add peanuts or not, and... [more]

Ask post: What is in "punch", England early 19th C
According to this page (sidebar, about 1/4 of the way down),

"In his notes for the 1907 edition of A Christmas Carol E. Gordon Browne describes this Christmas punch:
The drink is made by pouring red wine, either hot or cold, upon ripe bitter oranges. The liquor is heated or 'mulled' in a vessel with a long funnel, which could be pushed far down into the fire. Sugar and spices (chiefly cloves, star anise, and cinnamon) are added according to taste. It is... [more]

Ask post: Instrumetal Breakdown
A Bronx Tale was the first movie that made me say "wow" at the soundtrack. I was blown away, and still get chills when I hear "The Ten Commandments of Love" because of the way it was used in the film. When I first saw the movie, each and every time a song played I had to express amazement at the perfect songchoice for that point of the movie. I know there have been 2 other movies like that, but can't think of them off the top of my head...

Ask post: Help for Compulsive Hoarding
There has been some great advice here about the initial clean-up, and it's funny this was posted because I was going to post something very similar. Since anon cannot respond, I'm going to piggyback and ask about resources to help one KEEP things clean. From my research, I understand that usually within 6 months after a clean-up, a hoarder's home will look just like it was. There's some sort of thought pattern here that needs additional help to be broken besides just "get it cleaned up... [more]

Ask post: Did I ejaculate during my first orgasm?
The problem with educating somebody before them is, what if you DON'T ejaculate with them? Careful in how you present it, and be prepared for the guy (or girl) you tell to be very determined in trying to make it happen again...and again...and again.
It happens to me quite frequently. And sometimes, I'm really surprised when it doesn't. No rhyme or reason to it, and I don't worry too much about it because it feels good either way. But I always put a towel down, just in case.

Ask post: How can I broach this subject without being clingy? SHOULD I even try?
Please, please, please don't make too big a deal of it. Aside from mentioning her history of depression, you don't mention anything about her family life. I go through periods where there's so much going on in my life, I just don't have the time to even send a quick email to my dear friends, though I do compose them in my head in those few seconds before sleep, hoping that I'll have time to actually send them the next day. And the days turn into weeks. Then by that point, I'm so overwhelmed... [more]

Oh - and mentioning to a depressed person that you've noticed they aren't themselves and are concerned is never a bad idea. My friends pick up on changes in my behavior long before I realize I'm in the midst of depression, and I'm always grateful for them noticing, and caring enough to mention it. Just don't harp on it, or focus on the fact she isn't doing as good a job of being a friend as she used to. That would be make things worse, if it is depression related.

Ask post: Roommate won't stop coughing, I can't sleep.
I drove my ex-husband crazy with a cough that only happened when I was sleeping, and I had no idea about it. After a more than a few nights of sleeping on the couch, we discovered that a humidifier helped immensely. It seemed that if the heat or AC was blowing at my face or above it, my cough would be exacerbated, but if I faced away from it, I was much more tolerable. Perhaps when you mention his cough from an angle of concern, you can suggest a humidifier as well as a trip to the doctor.... [more]

Unfortunately I don't have suggestions for the OP, but had to clarify that you should NOT pour beer on it (I know it was a joke, and will probably be removed, but just to be clear, do not encourage the proliferation of yeast.)
Also, loiseau, he was referring to a literal feminine wash, not a euphemism for douche. There are a bunch of them out there and while I'm not certain, they seem to be a much less harmful product than a douche.... [more]

Ask post: Has anyone experienced post-ejaculatory pain?
Definitely get a referral to a urologist. I'm extremely surprised that your PCP said he'd never heard of post-ejaculatory pain, so I'm wondering if perhaps there are other symptoms that are making your situation unique.

Along with epididymitis and prostatitis, varicose veins can also be a somewhat common problem for men. Do you wear tight briefs and/or tight pants? Two friends of mine were able to drastically reduce their post-ejaculatory pain by switching to boxers,... [more]

**WARNING ON LAST LINK** There is a disturbing image as the banner on top. It's of a man lying on the ground, apparently shot, clearly wounded. It's not blantantly graphic, but definitely warrants a warning. I don't know how I missed it the first time, and I apologize if anyone was caught offguard by it.

Ask post: How to reward the Bestest Daddy Ever?
For my ex's first Father's Day, I gave him a keychain locket with a photo on one side, and a lock of our son's hair on the other side. I had it engraved with something like "World's Best Daddy."

To build on the handprint idea, you could get one of those frames with a mat that has 2 ovals cut out, and put a photo of your child on one side, and a handprint on the other.

Or you could just dig through & find a really adorable photo of... [more]

"Children love to spray Silly String on other children's clothing, especially shirts. It usually comes off if wiped.

It can permanently stain and partly dissolve some varieties of vinyl wallpaper. It has also been seen to occasionally permanently mark or remove paint... [more]

Ask post: Feel the tast of the change in my pocket.
It's my understanding that synesthesia is more like "tasting" blue and such. The taste you get when handling a penny is the same principle which causes you to develop the taste of garlic in your mouth if you were to put a clove in your shoe. This doesn't jibe with the criteria for synesthesia. I tried googling various words with "absorb" to no avail, but that's pretty much what's happening - the skin is absorbing the copper.... [more]

Of course - hitting "post" always works like a charm. This article states that the metal smell that you get on your hands after handling coins is actually compounds in the skin reacting to the metals. And to make a jump in logic, since smell is so closely related to taste, perhaps that's what's giving the taste sensation. I'm interested to hear other responses - googling "handling coins" and "metallic taste" only brings up a few results, and I'm sure it's quite... [more]

Ask post: How does my sister get her suicidal roommate's family to get involved instead of leaving it all on her?
Thinkingwoman has a great point. Your sister needs to try to handle the situation as she would if this were a patient of hers. You do what you can, but refer what you can't through the appropriate channels. I would talk to somebody at the hospital and ask what they could do (if anything) from a medical standpoint since she is so unwell. I'm sure this isn't the first time they've come across a situation like this. If that doesn't yield anything, then I'd contact the school. But this seems... [more]

Ask post: Unplanned Pregnancy
There's definitely something not right here, but it could be stupidity/ignorance as everyone says.

Ovulation USUALLY happens 2 weeks before you get your period, and it takes 24-72 hours for implantation to occur, and it would take another few days to figure out your period is late, but these aren't hard and fast rules. She may mean her period was due 3 weeks ago, thus making her "three weeks pregnant." Or she's a week late and counting from the time you... [more]

If she found out she was pregnant on May 4, she should find a doctor who can get her in for her first prenatal visit before June 12. The first visit is important so she can learn things she can do to give her (your?) child the best possible start in life by eating healthy and exercising. It will also give her a chance to ask any questions that she may have.

Did you ask her when her last period was? If she's "3 weeks pregnant" that means her last period was roughly 7 weeks ago (March 16), and her period was already almost a week late by the time she slept with you. That would also mean that the father was most likely a guy she slept with... [more]

The abrasion is coming from the nipple rubbing against the roof of the baby's mouth. She needs to get more of the bottom of her areola in the baby's mouth. When I started nursing, it wasn't working out too well despite all the reading I'd done and the nurses yelling "figure it out, or we'll give him formula."
