Speaking as somebody who purposely uses a different name on here than I do everywhere else, this is a terrible idea. I chose this name so it's not easy to realize I'm using embarrassing sexual experiences with you to answer AskMe questions in explicit detail.

My son is the same way - hates watching the new Sesame Street, but I can park him in front of the computer for hours watching my favorite clips from when I was growing up. And as far as I'm concerned - the lessons back then were easier to understand and more important as well. Though I did have nightmares well into my teen years that giant cats were going to bust in through the windows , but it was totally worth it. When I try to change the capcha or have it read to me, it tells me "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage." Is it just me? I was looking forward to hearing how creepy the audio option sounded.

Funny thing is, I was able to figure out this acronym & knew to read this thread, and ignore the other two. But yes, a location would be nice - perhaps it's a gathering that I'd be interested in but never heard of. MetaTalk could again enrich my life if the location was there.

I think that my word cloud reveals way too much about me, what with fireflys, lolipops, longboats, percocet, pinapple, playschool, prostatitis, quarter, ru-486, sh-boom, shirelles,(mood music, I suppose), transcriptionist, unpredictible, and throwing in a former waitress. Sounds like the story of quite an interesting party could be made out of those words!

I too am embarrased by misspellings.

Brilliant idea. I'd be thrilled if we did a language (Italian?), or some sort of science like chemistry (since chemistry in high school was one of the few things I really thought I got, but was totally wrong).

I'd be most enthusiastic for anything other than programming language.

What bugs me in this more than anything is that Askme could provide some very good answers for her situation - if only she'd tell us exactly what her situation was. What's the point in asking a question if you're going to smooth over some of the details? The big deal is not in "lying" per se, but rather in wasting everyone's time - her's included.

I just saw Arlo in concert last year, and he sang Alice's Restaurant, being the 40th Anniversary of the song. He sounded great, and the concert was lots of fun. How cool would it be.......just imagine......nahh, I don't want to get too excited.

I don't go to Ask as often as I'd like because there are so many questions that I don't have time for. I honestly can't help anyone plan for their vacation in another state, answer any computer questions or figure out who in the world sang "Everyone's Gone to the Moon", but I would definately visit a site quite often where I know I have a better chance of helping somebody out. As one of those people who marked the thread as a favorite for reasons other than gawking or laughing at somebody, I'm irked by some of the reactions about it being marked as a favorite.
But those of us who marked it as favorites, we knew it was public. We just went through all the concerns about it being public might have on May 16.
The gist of it was ass sweat and genital warts.

I avoid the whole thing by sticking with "metafilter".....I tend to think in terms of the two words "me" and "fi" as in hi-fi, but I can't reconcile that with the pronunciation of metafilter. MeTa is easy, AskMe is easy, calculus was easy, but pronouncing "MeFi"? That stumps me.
