Do-re-mi and Roy G. Biv

Can I change the colors of MIDI events in Sonar 7's piano roll editor individually to match the notes they represent?

Panoptimus

Though foreign-born, he is often considered an American icon. His career may have peaked in the 80's and has certainly taken some questionable turns, but he's retained a cult following. Now he's having a true comeback, and though some may be displeased that he's "sold out", for him it's just the latest in a lifelong series of transformations.

Try to play just one round...

Speedcluster , a frentic combination of Speed, Solitaire, and Tapper, is an extremely compelling virtual card game which is sucking up a lot of my casual time, so I might as well pass along the obsession.

The DEW Line

Tales from the DEW Line. In the mid-50's, the Distant Early Warning, or DEW Line, a series of radar stations along the 69th paralell, began scanning the arctic skies for signs of soviet bombers. Though cut off from direct contact with civilization, and often hoping that nothing would happen, staffers of these remote outposts still found plenty worth writing about or photographing (1, 2, 3).

I'm sure George Putnam would not approve.

I Hate You, I Love Volcanoes

I usually only sing on tracks when it's necessary to fulfill the requirements of a compilation, as was the case with this medley from Flogging a Dead Cow, the Dead Milkmen tribute album. Another "quality" Hence The Name product.

Chicken 180

Colonel Sanders may be having a bad day, but that doesn't mean we can't have a good time, or a good ragtime. From Hence the Name.

Mixed Bag

Enjoy one of the classics of 19th century adventure fiction as re-envisioned through Playskool turntablism. (w/ bonus fable!) From Hence the Name.

Fez Dispenser

Pawn shop accordion 303 twiddlin' attention-deficit toytown junglism. Yes, it uses the amen break unapologetically, but it was '98 and I was too young to realize how played it was. Hope you enjoy it.

How does this oven work?

This may sound like a dumb question, but seriously: how do I use my oven?

Okay to use non-musical samples in music?

Is it okay, legally speaking, to use non-musical audio samples in a musical recording?

The Ultimate Search for the Ultimate Treasure

In the ancient year 1982, Atari tried an unusual promotion strategy for their SwordQuest series of games. Using clues found in the included comic books, players competed for a chance to win actual jewel-encrusted treasures [geocities link] worth tens of thousands of dollars apiece. The competitions for the first two titles (Earthworld and Fireworld) were held, and the winners took home their gaudy prizes, but then came the infamous console crash. The third contest (Waterworld) was cancelled, the fourth game (Airworld) was never officially produced, the promotion was called off, and to this day, no one knows for certain the fate of the remaining treasures.
