Are there other places that will pay you to research answers to questions besides Google Answers?

I'm trying to locate a good text to speech synthesizer. I've looked at several but, I'm wondering if you know of any. (More inside).

Hitler's secretary, Traudl Junge dead at 81.
She just published her book and a documentary of her life premiered hours before her death. She was in his bunker when he committed suicide in 1945 and she took his last will and testament. She died still maintaining that she knew nothing of the holocaust or the depths of the Nazi horror.

Chinese-American congressman denied entrance to Department of Energy offices
U.S. Rep David Wu (outspoken and rather instrumental in the Wen Ho Lee case) was denied entrance twice, despite having Congressional identification. "Energy Department officials told Wu's office the caution was justified because congressional IDs are easy to fake... But Capitol Police recalled only one incident of possible congressional ID forgery, 20 years ago and never proven."

Hundreds of children trapped on slave ship
The children, from Benin and neighboring Togo, are thought to be as young as 10 and to have been sold for as little as $15 by their parents.
They had apparently been sold to work on cocoa plantations in Ivory Coast...

Hey, what about flyers? You know those grungy photocopied things you'd see in coffee houses? Would it make sense to have an area for them as well. I know that file size may be an issue, but...

Wen Ho Lee release delayed, again...
as the case falls apart against him, the feds manage to secure a single plea of guilty and arrange Dr. Lee's release after 9 months in solitary confinement. How do you feel about this? Is the an example of the "Evil Empire" scapegoating a minority?

WaSP! blasts Netscape.
Good, good, good... about f**king time. All of my Netscape cronies are now using I.E. because of exactly what this letter says.

Netscape Communicator 4.74 Final
has been released. This is reported to be the last in the 4.xx series browsers before Netscape 6 comes. Warning: this time it finally tips the scales at just over 20 megabytes for the Win32 version, wow. It's supposed to be a better Linux implimentation.

More news on the IIS exploit
After acknowledging the problem last week, Micro$oft is now saying that the backdoor in IIS... is a flaw. M$ Technet seems to have a
fix for this problem, delete the offending file! So, if systems are your bag, my advice is to
start researching security if you are running M$ internet server products (SQL 7, Exchange, IIS, Index Server, etc.).

Speaking of re-designs.
Doc Ozone has a new "front end." Or, it's new to me, as I haven't been there in a few months. This guy is nuts... he's a U.I. maniac. Not sure where he's concentrating his efforts these days. He was working in Europe for a bit. One can pick up a lot of inspiration from this complex site. Look's like he's added a discussion forum too.

Acid.org is cool...
I just noticed ACiD redesigned it's main page. It's good to see groups like ACiD and
iCE are still organized producing art. For those who remember those ANSI and BBS days, don't go there expecting to see that sort of stuff.

Netscape 6 Pre release is Official. . .
Looks like Netscape caved in and released the leaked version of Communicator 6. I got it and it's identical to the leaked version posted here earlier. Which is almost identical to Mozilla M14.
BTW, does anyone else have a problem with AOL/Netscape having the entire internet develop it's newest browser through the Mozilla effort while they plan to profit from it? Especially with Mozilla's ardent open source position. Or, is it just me.

The Mini Automobile Website Made Project Cool Sightings. . .
Many of you may have already seen this but, it looks like we had it here first again. While I was taken, as were many of us, with the Mini website and all of it's coolness... I didn't think I'd see it in the "Sightings" section of Project Cool. It seems to be today's pick.

The United Killers of Benetton
It seems that the italian clothing company
Benetton recently used death row inmates in a rather distasteful
ad campaign that featured death row inmates and thier clothing. Check it out. Quite a groundswell of protest is mounting against this. The matter seems to be equally offending to both pro and anti death sentence folks.
