I'm a single guy living alone. I need to start cooking for myself because I spend too much money on food, and most of what I eat is kinda bad for me. However, I hate doing dishes and don't have much time to cook. What foods/recipes would you suggest?

As Moscow changes, so does its population of stray dogs. During Soviet times, Moscow's stray dogs foraged for food and avoided humans, since there wasn't much to be gained from begging. As the city became increasingly affluent, the dogs' behavior changed radically. Some recent adaptations include passive subway begging, observing stoplights, and a food scam called the "come-from-behind ambush." The stray dogs, whose population is estimated at 26,000, have even ceased some of their interpack warfare. Observe the Moscow subway dog

So, ummm, last July I went to Portland for this "Metafilter anniversary gathering" thing, and I got Jessamyn to autograph one of those nifty teal Metafilter shirts. However, my life will not be complete until I somehow coerce the other admins to sign it as well. I'm just waiting for the proper venue. So, how about it? Are going to have another anniversary gathering this year or what?

I'm looking for an MP3 player that you can treat like a USB drive. In other words, I want to load MP3s onto it by just plugging the device into my machine and the copying files over. I do not want to use a specialized program like Itunes, and I want to use a standard USB or Firewire cable to plug the device into my computer.

I keep all my savings in a Citibank e-savings account, which is like a regular savings account, only with a higher interest rate. I noticed that the meetup mentioned in
this thread has made the 'gatherings' sidebar. (I'm assuming that the meetup will take place this year, and not in 2009, as suggested.) In the thread, there weren't many details regarding a place or a time. Has any of this been decided yet? Not to make like Mother Superior and jump the gun, but if this thing is really happening, I want to buy my plane tix pretty soon.

For years,
MDI has been developing a car that runs on compressed air. Last month, they signed an
agreement with Tata Motors to produce the MiniCat - a zero-emissions vehicle that will travel up to 180 miles on $3 worth of fuel. See it in action

In 1999, MTV aired 25 Lame, a show where retired 25 of their worst and most overplayed videos. Rob Van Winkle (aka Vanilla Ice) showed up to help them retire the video for "Ice Ice Baby." The result -
violence, hilarity, and broken mannequins (video, 30-second ad shows before video). Apparently unplanned,
nobody knows for sure if this outburst was the product of genuine anger, or if he was just playing around. An
unedited version (YouTube, lower quality) leads me to think that it was the former.

Ok, this one's a bit of a long shot. A while back, somebody posted a comment to a MeFi thread that contained a textfile the effect of "12 Reasons Why Nobody Responded to Your Post." I believe that this textfile was pretty old and came from either the Usenet or Listserv community. Anyway, I found it to be really witty and insightful, and was wondering if anybody here knew more about the origin or location of this textfile.
